Quite dated, dark and musty. The shower was on the side of a bathtub aimed at the bathroom floor, so a shower curtain was essential, as the floor was very slippery when wet. It took an hour and several phone calls early in the morning to get a shower curtain, and when it came there were no rings on it so it was no use. "I come back later" was the last I heard, but the curtain was there when I returned to the hotel that evening.
The room was dark, as the windows were shuttered. Opening the shutters meant no security; the inner windows were unable to be locked. There were no insect screens, and there were big gaps in the windows meaning mosquitos could not be shut out. I found quite a few in the bathroom each day, and resorted to burning a coil each night. Mattresses and pillows were fairly thin and hard.
The remote for the television worked intermittently. The exchange rate for money at the front desk was not particularly good.
I can't comment on whether this place is value for money as I stayed here as part of a group tour and don't know what it cost. As others have said, it's about five hundred metres from town, across a bridge and along a dusty or muddy road.
