“Dated and dirty”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

The superior room has got a small room as mentioned, but there is no view, and no balcony as shown on booking.com and other sites.
On arrivel, the first thing they asked was if we wanted un upgrade to a room with a view and offcourse we had to pay an extra 20 dollars per night. We preferred the room without view, wich was big enough, the other room was missing a part of the ceiling in the bathroom.
After telling them we wanted the booked room the were not a nice anymore

The room we got was not clean and after asking to remove the dirt of the former guest, they did not do it.
The sheets were dirty as well. And there were stains of other people on it.
The two nights we stayed, we were visited by huge cockroaches, in the evening and the staff did not even care at all.

The airco.started working after 5pm, we thought it was broken and asked the staff for help, but they didn't come.....

The breakfast was good, but the tables were very dirty.
Some of the staff were polite.

We checked out 2 days earlier and had to pay for an extra night, but that was worth it!!! We were happy to be gone.

Be carefull, they don't accept credit cards and might charge a lot, but i showed the my exchange rate on my smartphone, and they accepted that.

Long story short solution, very dirty and very overpriced!

“Wonderful Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We just flew home from our trip to Vietnam. This time we stayed for an entire week-and had a difficult time leaving. A waterfall is in the middle of the hotel and trickles into a koi pond, and the deck is set with classic wicker furniture and white linens. The breakfast is fantastic, eggs cooked to order, banana pancakes to fresh baguettes and fruit-they have it all. The deck overlooks beautiful water spinach fields with flowers everywhere. The infinity pool is covered and stays cool all day, much needed in the afternoon to beat the heat. Our room was decorated with fresh flowers, and special touches such as a sewing kit and toothbrushes.
As much as that is all wonderful it is the staff at Thien Thanh that makes this our favorite place. They care about your stay, will do anything they can to help, from booking a tour to giving directions or advice. Free internet, a selection of books and magazines, and always someone to make your stay comfortable.
This hotel is on a quiet street, just a short walk which is perfect as the town can get loud in the evening.

“a little bit expensive for what it is”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Nice small hotel with a nice view and well located but a little bit expensive for what it is.
We had the suite and paid 70 $. the room was pretty small for a suite and we had to endure the noise of a pump whenever anybody (it means even your neighbour!) uses the water. We can expect for that price to have quietness.

“Oasis in the Hoi An Jungle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

While not located in the heart of the city we chose this hotel based on Lonely Planet listing and Tripadvisor feedback. We are a family with 3 children so the swimming pool and the green outlook were drawcards. The hotel lived up to all expectations and the two days we were able to eat breakfast on the terrace were very pleasant - the children enjoyed feeding their crumbs to the fish down below and watching the birdlife. The buffet breakfast is a great selection of fruit, cereals, toast, omlette, bacon/eggs, as well as rice dishes - fueled the tanks until well into the afternoon. Unfortunately, due to the wet weather during our visit, we did not get much use of the pool - just a quick plunge on the one warm day. The chorus of frogs during the night was loud but pleasant. Our experience with the staff was very positive and they were friendly and helpful at all times. The rooms overlooking the pond a the back of the hotel are very pleasant - spacious, well presented and had a good selection of facilities. Our bathroom was slightly damp smelling as it didn't have a fan but the bathroom next door for the children did have a fan. The hotel is 10 years old and is some repainting would enhance the rooms we stayed in. Staying higher up in hotel is better for outlook - we had rooms 306 & 307 and the views were broken by string of power wires. 406 and 407 would be better as long as you don't mind climbing stairs - the rooms are accessed by two sets of stairs so I don't know about the numbering on the other side of the reception area.

Room Tip: Back of hotel overlooking the pond. First floor rooms (101 & 102) open off reception/lobby area...

“Experience a small traditional style hotel, offering good service and facilities.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

The Thien Thanh Hotel is just a few minutes walk from the the centre of old Hoi An. Located on a side street this small family run hotel offers clasic Vietnamese styling, a relaxing setting overlooking the water fields and comfortable guest rooms. The best rooms are at the back of the hotel overlooking the fields and provide a good standard of accommodation with everything you need for your stay. We enjoyed the simple design of the hotel with its calming interior, its convenient location and the friendly staff.

There are different standards of rooms so be sure to clarify what you are after as the central rooms have no external windows and are small. The front rooms are double glazed for a quiet sleep. The back rroms by far the best. Breakfast was plentiful and served on the back verandah taking advantage of the view. The hotel has a small pool and 4 computers for guests use as well as free wifi.

With its great location, friendly service and attention to detail, I would highly recommend this hotel if you are after a traditional Vietnamese style hotel with modern comforts without all the glamorous bells and whistles of larger establishments.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at rear of hotel overlooking the fields and confirm your booking type before you arri...
