Hoi An is one of the most enjoyable places to visit in Vietnam. Aside from the obvious attractions of this historical town, you have a good beach resort plus some great value for money hotels and restaurants. This is not a bad hotel, it just cannot compare to other hotels in this area in terms of atmosphere, comfort, service and food and beverage. It is absolutely huge, sprawling out over several acres which probably makes it more difficult to create a homely atmosphere like so many other small hotels here. It does have an excellent monster pool, tennis courts, boats for hire, 2 restaurants and late night bar, however last week I hardly saw anybody using any of restaurants except for the buffet breakfast. Buffet breakfast---yes it is huge, however the quality of the items on offer was poor. Tea and coffee had been stewing for hours, the bread was soft and so unlike the wonderful crispy baguettes you get just outside the hotel, cheese was 2 huge blocks of obviously frozen something or other, the bacon had more fat than meat and the fruit was tasteless. Service with a small only came from the nice lady cooking the eggs. Accomodation wise my room was small with the dreaded over the bath shower (bath was too small to sit in), it was better than my friends as he had a TV that must have been 20 years old whereas mine was flat screen, the mattress looked like 2 elephants had slept in it the night before---I woke up next morning with serious neck and shoulder pains. This could be such a good hotel if only simple things could be sorted out; the friendliness of the welcome, a comfortable bed to sleep in, a little more money spent on the food ingredients, but then I guess that in a hotel of this size what looks to be easy to manage must be a nightmare.

Dear Madfish8,
Thank for trying to understand how the hotels operate and it’s “nightmares”…some interesting details, I think you post on the wrong property though, because all our coffee and tea making facilities are inside the kitchen (so I cannot not see how you could come to your conclusion on that), the cheeses and cold cuts are coming out already cut not in blocks, and I changed all tv sets to plasma’s all over the hotel since last year in October…your friend’s rooms…
No people in the restaurants in the evening? Well everybody’s talking about going outside because is cheaper no? Hope no complaints on salmonella and stuff…
Well anyhow thank you for the rest of your opinions, noted.
Regards,
GM
