We spent a total of two nights at the Hai Yen Hotel. Unfortunately due to a booking muck-up we spent each night in a different room. It did not really effect us to much though, we went from having a 1st floor outlook of the pool to having a ground floor outlook of the pool and the staff were very apologetic.
Both rooms were well appointed and clean, the second room had a slight problem with the aircon but that was quickly fixed by staff.
Its location is very good with a short drive or bike ride in one direction to the beautiful beach and in the other direction, a short walk to the town centre where you will find great restaurants and fantastic shoe and clothing tailors at very cheap prices.
The hotel also has a large swimming pool which is a perfect way of ending a hot day of shopping and sightseeing.
During our time here we had breakfast which was cheap and very good and we also used the bar facilities which were again very cheap.

Traveling with seven others (does this count as a large group?) the first room we were given on the second floor was dreary with a window looking at the wall of the next door hotel...what a difference a day makes next morning we were moved as our aircon rattled all night and were re located in a large clean double room overlooking the pool, spotless new bathroom and our own area to sit outside above pretty pool. Just goes to show how important it is in this country to get the room right! If you can, we were lucky. NIce pool and very necessary after trolling around sights of Hoi An all day, also hired a bicycle from next door, made getting around a lot more pleasant.

Stayed at Hai Yen hotel for 2 nights (March 20 & 21). Bed is OK but when you first come into the room, u can feel a smell like when u are on old bus (and it make me sick). One of my friends said room in the ground floor always have such a bad smell. So if u have intention to book at Hai Yen hotel, ask them for a room on 2nd or 3rd floor.

- Hotel have a small beautiful swimming pool and a garden which u can have breakfast in the morning.
- Fine buffet breakfast.
-Free wifi internet.
- on the right hand size of hotel, there is a bike and motorbike service. 10.000 VND/ day for a bike. 40.000 VND (3,2USD)/day for motorbike
- Its near Hoi An centre and 5km to Cua Dai beach.

Dropped off at the Hai Yen by the driver of the Hai Au Hotel in a bizarre hotel switch and stayed one night. The Hai Yen is OK, the breakfast was good, watched a Vietnam - Thai soccer match with the staff in the lobby. Plumbing leaked in the bathroom and low water pressure. Average room. Clean. Uninteresting. Another guest was leaving due to no hot water and noise. OK if you don't pay much and don't expect much, but you can clearly do better. A fall back position only.
