“Overall great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We stayed here after escaping the noise and the mass scooters of Saigon for a total of seven days.

The hotel is almost non existant from the road but inside is much better, the service at reception was warm and friendly and overall the staff DO try and please you. I believe all the rooms are a good size and the massive beds are some of the best I have slept on in SE Asia, really comfortable.

The breakfasts are really comprehensive and literally anything is obtainable, the chefs do a mean fresh omelette if required.

We only ate in the restaurant once and the food was OK if a little limited in choice.

Overall, the hotel gives good value for money but lacks the experience of better more expensive hotels.

For example, the female staff in the restaurant all wear the smart hotel uniform but the male staff walk round in various forms of sportswear ie tracksuit tops!

Not a big issue, but one that seperates the hotel from being very good to just good.

If you can live with this, its a great place to stay.

Room Tip: See if you can get a river view at the back of the hotel

“Not a good experience”

We booked for a stay for 3 nights including new year and were charged a high price and were told that we had to pay for a gala dinner of $55 US each (which we later discovered didn't include drinks)for new year which left much to be desired to say the least. The music was exceptionally loud and went on till far too late and the food was terrible. Drink prices were very high and the rooms run down with thin walls as we could hear everything going on next door. I requested some hair conditioner which was not out of the ordinary considering we were paying $ 80 US per night and I was informed curtly by the receptionist that they didn't supply it. We booked a transfer to the airport the day before leaving and then on booking out we were waiting for the car only to be told that we didnt book it! Interestingly we were informed this by the same curt receptionist who I experienced the day before regarding the conditioner.

“A fairly safe choice for a beach location in Hoi An”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We booked river beach at the last minute without much alternative. It was fine and I think had we had beach weather it would have been better, but the rooms were a bit damp and musty, the bathroom wasn't great and had insects everywhere. Breakfast was good and staff friendly and helpful which added to the experience. Probably a bit pricey for what it is but won't ruin your holiday either.

“Nice hotel, good breakfast, but no heating”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Good hotel if you want to be right by the beach, and enjoy sleeping in your warm clothes during winter months. Hotel doesn't have heating, so room and floors are chilly during winter.

Also, hotel is pretty far from old city center. If you are looking for a nice beach resort during the summer, this hotel is quite nice ( although could use a renovation and modern equipment, like digital safe).

However, hoi an is a beautiful town, and I recommend staying in the old city area. Other than the beach, which is a two minute walk, this hotel is about 4km from anything else interesting.

“Fantastic location, near beach and off beaten track but a few issues”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

This Hotel runs a regular shuttle service into Hoi An so was no problem not being in Old City. The location is fantastic with the beach about 100 metres away. There is also a nice pool in the hotel. There are also a couple of good restaurants nearby which I will review separately. One is Japanese and the other serves local cuisine (turn left out of hotel and past Jjapanese restaurant) we did not eat in hotel restaurant so I cannot comment. Hotel breakfast was very good. The rooms were large and comfy..although some areas of the hotel grounds were a bit smelly. There had been recent heavy rains and looks like there may be drainage problems. The hotel could do with a bit of maintenance and freshen up. In a few years time the hotel will start to look delapidated....but it must be hard in the tropics! There was a problem with power on each of the two days we were there. When you look at street power lines in Hoi An its not surprising.! But we were surprised the resort hotel did not have its own generator. Power went off both days when we were having breakfast..but had been restored when we got back in the evening. We were not inconvenienced. Service was fine..and beds comfy. They offered some free entertainment in the evening and were obviously making an effort for their guests which was appreciated. Thank you.

Rooms did not have free internet laptop but there were one or two free computers near the bar area.

Room Tip: you can pay a bit more and get a river view room
