“Location is good, needs new staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

The location and room was good, however staff speak very basic english. Paid extra for laundry to be ready the same day, when we asked if it was ready we were told it would be ready the next day. Ok, no problem. But the next day we came to pick up the laundry and we were charged extra and when we asked about it, they suddenly didnt understand me. After asking politely why the other guy told us that it wasnt ready the same day, the girl rolled her eyes and facepalmed.
Before checking out, the girl calculated the cost and when we came back from the ATM to pay, another guy recalculated and came with a different amount. After asking how at was possible, he recalculated over and over and in the end came with even another amount! Also, internet wasnt working well, answer: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. Airconditioning was switched off several times by turning the main power off and only when asking did they turn it on again.
Wouldnt stay here again, maybe if staff would be replaced.

Room Tip: Rooms are ok, just dont get room 110 because its right next to where the cleaning staff sleeps and t...

“Would never stay here again (or recommend it)- overpriced, uncomfortable, completely useless staff.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

The An Hoi Hotel made a good
first impression- alas, that was the only good thing, with the devil in the details. The location is stunning (just across from the Japanese bridge) and the hotel is a nice airy villa. That's it for the positives.

We stayed for four nights. The room was a bit musty, but that can be overlooked. What couldn't be was torn sheets, to be replaced by sheets stained with what looked like blood. The mattress was broken and very uncomfortable, and the bed had one top sheet that didn't even span the whole width of the bed. Luckily we didn't see any bedbugs (like some others who had bad experiences here) but the room was crawling with ants- and no, we had no food in our room.

The service was exceptionally poor, with only one of the staff having a basic command of English. We used their laundry service which was also a mistake. Half of our clothes were in a bag full of another person's clothes and probably would have been lost had we not spotted the bag. Not to mention the fact that we were told our laundry would be done at midday only to finally receive it at 17:00 (after waiting a good 40min in the lobby after staff said "ready in only 5 minutes".

They also take cash only, which is not posted anywhere in the lobby. This made paying for 4 nights another added inconvenience.

Finally, we were told that the bus we booked for Hue through the hotel would pick us up at the hotel and was part of the ticket price. They sent a private car to take us to the Hoi An bus station instead, which would have been fine if the driver hadn't tried to charge us for the quick trip to the bus station.

Overall, a completely unsatisfactory experience. I'm sure for the price there are far nicer hotels in Hoi An with much more helpful staff.

“Perfect location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We stayed at An Hoi for 4 nights. The location is perfect, beautiful view of the river and the old town, 2 minute walk over the bridge to be in the centre of things.
Rooms could be cleaner, felt a little damp and mould on the ceiling... Bathroom could also do with an update.
For $25 a night inc. brekky we were satisfied. We were hardly in our hotel room anyway.

Worth a try.

“Not bad but not brilliant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

The hotel is perfectly fine as a budget option and you get reasonable value for money. Arrived at 4am and was able to check in early. The rooms are pleasent with cable tv, air con, fan and bathroom that actually has a bath (not all rooms do). The breakfast is OK but again, ot that great. The hotel has a small pool which is usually quiet, but the pools setting isn't all that appealing - a small court yard that rarely gets sun. Good location close to the river and within walking distance of the main town area (Hoi An is pretty small but lovely). Overall, average - but not bad.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel will have less noise. Not all rooms have a bath.

“Good location, poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

Only after leaving this hotel did I realise that I have paid little extras here and there that I shouldn't have. They arranged train tickets for me and charged me more than they said, so very annoying. Also drinks that I had already paid for we're on my bill when I checked out.

Apart from feeling a little cheated the hotel is ok. Good location and I enjoyed the breakfast. It is also very clean.

However, beware of the rooms on the ground floor, we had room 105 and was very damp and mouldy(because it has a tiny, high up window with very little natural light coming in). We managed to move to the first floor on the second night and the room was nice.

Some rooms on the ground floor have no windows!
