“Impressed”

As others have mentioned, the HIlton Al Ain may be a bit tired in places, but in terms of value and service, I really couldn't fault it. Some of the signage in the hotel suggests that upgrades are on the way, and the room we had on the sixth floor wasn't terrible. We booked two rooms and one was upgraded to a suite, which was a fantastic room and very well fitted out.

I found the service in the hotel to be uniformly excellent. Everyone was polite and attentive, and when I left a computer charger behind, I was impressed with their willingness to post it to me, and it arrived very promptly.

The pool area was great and well supervised for the kids. You can get a free wifi password if you have a drink at the cafe, which is a better option than buying a voucher from the front desk. Internet really should be free in this day and age, though.

I'd have absolutely no hesitation in going back to the HIlton Al Ain.

“NIce place”

Great staff. Hotel itself is a bit dated. Not exactly Hilton level but reasonable. The grounds and pool area are well kept and the health club, pool and tennis courts are open to locals on a membership basis but this doesn't seem to make the place too congested. Pool area closes a bit early. A bit out of the way as far as downtown goes but taxis are inexpensive. A decent choice but if you want really nice and more central then stay at the Rotana.

“Retro”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

Not a bad hotel at all - charming in a retro way.

Good points:
Nice pool with slide for kids (no lifeguard near though)
Reasonably priced bar with happy hour 4 - 7.
Good breakfast.
Nice gardens.
Excellent service

Need to work on:
Rooms rather jaded and a bit worn.

“Not bad but not wow either”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

My husband and I, with our 2 year old daughter, spent 2 nights at the Hilton over the Eid Adha holidays.

On arrival, the exterior of hotel looks dated. Step in and the interior looks dated too. Part of the hotel is closed for refurbishment. On our last morning here, I was woken up at 7am by sounds from the work that was being done.

We booked a deluxe king room. Room looks like it has undergone refurbishment. The room is spacious and clean. Our room overlooks the pool, nice view of the pool and its surroundings but there's live music in the evenings so if you are a light sleeper, this could be a problem.

When we made reservations online, we booked the B&B and Dinner package. Dinner is buffet at the Flavours restaurant which starts at 7pm. Since traveling with an infant, dinner for her at 7 is a little of a problem. The 1st night I approached the wait staff at 6.45pm and requested that we feed our daughter earlier. They were very kind to accommodate us. Thank you, that's great service. Food on the other side could be better.

On our 2nd night I called front desk and asked if we can get hotel credit out of the package if we choose to eat at another restaurant within the hotel. Their answer was a straight no. We ate at another restaurant, Paco, earlier to accommodate our daughter. Seated at the terrace, dining al fresco, good service and no complaint on food.

Breakfast is nothing special. Both mornings we were there, the spread is the same. Unimaginative. A little boring. Hilton could have done a lot better though service has been good.

Front desk could provide better service. We arrived before the check-in time and was told our room was not ready. No problem, we said we'll be out sight seeing and we'll collect the key once back. I've requested a cot when I made the reservation online and I reminded front desk again before we left. When we arrived at our room after sight seeing, no cot. A call to Housekeeping, cot arrived within 10 minutes.

The mini bar in our room was not working. The next morning before we went out, we informed front desk. When we got back in the evening, mini bar was still not working. Again, a call to Housekeeping and someone turned up to check within 10 minutes. Well done Housekeeping. Front Desk, time to buck up!

The hotel has been awarded 3 stars by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Board. The room and restaurant deserves 3 stars but the grounds deserves more. The pool area is nice, big and clean. The garden is well manicured and very well taken care of. We would go back just for the pool.

“not much choice in al ain!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

when you stay in Al Ain there isnt much choice so most people end up here! its below par for a hilton...the rooms are a bit run down. but the air con is good and the pool is good. the staff are excellent and the concierge was most helpful. next time i would spend 2 nights here and maybe 1 night in the mercure at the top of the mountain just to make a nice change.
the forts in the local area are intersting to visit but you pretty much need to get taxis to all of them unless you dont mind walking around in 40 degree heat which is what i did!
