“Never again”

The room and furniture were dated and unappealing. There was some kind of a deer skin rug or something in the bedroom which looked rather unclean. There are big heaters mounted on the walls, presumably because the place was not winterized. I don't stay in hotels for the TV, but I honestly can't remember the last time I stayed in a place with a tube TV.

Lastly, the owner told me there was a nice field/grass area behind the cottages. So I brought my two year old daughter there to run around. As we started to play on the grass it soon became apparent that is was absolutely littered with deer poop. I'm not talking a few. I'm talking all over the place. It is a health hazard, and she suggested we all go back there to walk around!

I will never go back again, nor would I recommend to anyone.

“Lovely... met all our expectations!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

Gansett Green Manor is tucked-away off the Amagansett main street. We contemplated renting a house, but the weighing the true value of staying here was: 1) we could bring our dogs; 2) daily housekeeping services; 2) invaluable beach pass for our car + beach chairs/towels; 3) bikes to borrow; 3) lovely open garden spaces and comfortable outdoor furniture to entertain friends; 4) our own little kitchen (and an amazing farmers' market down the street); 5) extremely friendly housekeeping and management staff. We (and our dogs) love the beach and completely lucked-out with the early August weather. Planning to return...

“Perfect Spot for a Hamptons Wedding Weekend!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2011

We rented out the whole property of GGM – 13 cottages + the house (which they no longer rent) for our wedding reception last September. Pricing is fairly reasonable, especially for a treasure like GGM. We had 180 people at our wedding, but having our closest friends and family together on the property all weekend made it feel so special and very intimate. Our guests raved about the accommodations – total Hampton’s charm!

From the street, GGM is quite modest and unassuming; you will be surprised at the spectacular property (and cool sculptures!) that lies behind it. We were blown away the first time we saw it and knew straight away we would be married there. You walk through this gorgeous canopy of trees, around a few snaking curves and then the back lawn unfolds. This is one of my favorite parts of the property; it really is a hidden gem.

We got married in a church across the street, but most couples have their ceremony right on the property. They have a beautiful little corner with a pretty garden for this purpose. You can set the property up however you want, using tents, bars, stages etc…. for a mood that is as elegant or casual as you like. Of note, loud noise (such as a band/loud music) and lights must go out by 11 pm. This is a town ordinance and there is no way around this. Plan accordingly.

We had a catered brunch the next day in a cozy little part of the property. This was the perfect way to wrap up an amazing weekend and having brunch on the property was a big money saver! You can also do your rehearsal dinner there – the grounds are all yours for the whole weekend!

The staff at GGM is truly special. There was a change in management from the time we booked to our wedding several months later. They handled the transition like true professionals and were eager to help us plan an amazing weekend. The staff is incredibly helpful, ensuring the rooms were in perfect condition, putting out lights we purchased to line the pathway, manicuring the grounds, delivering welcome baskets to the rooms etc… They worked so closely with me to ensure that everything went smoothly; it was like having 3 additional wedding planners!

Overall, our experience with GGM was wonderful! Our guests loved the mini-destination feel and were happy to escape Manhattan for a weekend! We heard from so many guests about how beautiful and unique our wedding was. The property is gorgeous and meticulously maintained, the accommodations are lovely, the location is perfect and the staff is kind and helpful. We plan to rent the property for our annual family reunion, just so we can go back!

“Dirty and run-down”

We are very familiar with the Hamptons. Have stayed in several B&B's, hotels, etc. Gansett Green Manor has a nice website, but is one of the worst lodging options. The interior was dirty, with dirty spots on the carpet and dirt on the floor. The furniture is very shabby. The room was dark and small. The bathroom was tiny. I couldn't even bend over a little bit to shave and I am only 100 pounds. The water temperature on the shower goes from warm to cold for no reason, so it is impossible to get a good shower. I was so grossed out by this hotel, I kept wanting to leave the Hamptons because I could not relax knowing I had to go back to the room to sleep. Honestly, this place is only half a grade above a youth hostel. We DO NOT LIKE IT. Sorry.

Gansset Green Manor is a country Inn whose buildings date from the late 1800's. The original property was a farm and the original building were converted in the 1940's into cottages and country-style accommodations. The currents owners purchased the property in 1993 and have spent much time and effort lovingly upgrading and updating the rooms. This process, however is an ongoing one, as it is in most accommodations and we regret if the reviewers were unhappy. Surprisingly they expressed no unhappiness to the management . While there are other lodging options in the area that may be more contemporary, we pride ourselves on our old world charm, reflecting the Hamptons of a bygone era. We have had the pleasure of enjoying many, many repeat guests over the years and regret that these guests were unable to experience the happiness that Gansett Green Manor has brought so many.

My wife and I took our first trip out to Amagansett and were able to get a last minute, two night reservation at the Green Gansett. We stayed in a studio with an updated kitchen and bathroom. Behind the rooms, there is a humongous backyard with plenty of private spaces to sit and eat your meals. The Gansett provides beach towels, chairs, umbrellas, and toys for kids which makes packing a whole lot easier. Our only complaint is that in most cases, a 7-day reservation is required. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it without hesitation.
