please take plenty of money for eating out we have just returned from this hotel, staff were rude and not bothered at all if you complained, stayed here with my husband and three children, rooms were clean, but we ate out every night and even had to eat breakfast out every other day, every pub or shop we went to and asked where we were staying the locals told us everyone complains about the food in the my meric,, save your money for eating out or book a more expensive hotel.

“TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2011

Booked a package deal for 10 nights as we had just finished university exams and were looking forward to a relaxing holiday. Arrived at My Meric hotel and was given a really nice room on 10th Floor. Astonishing views and beautiful layout. However, this was a temporary measurement as we were only allowed to stay in the room for 2 nights as they had an over booking!? How this could have happened when we had booked nearly 2 months in advance is not quite clear.
Needless to say, we ended up being moved to our room once it was ready - on the 5th floor which was decent enough.
We had no reason to complain untill the 3rd night...
We all went out to corner bar (Run by a really nice man named Nigel) and one friend returned early to the hotel. We later followed and 'very' politely asked to be let into our room as our friend was sleeping.
WELL.....the abuse we endured from a small turkish man named Wadet, was unbelievably shocking! He shouted and swore at us that we are a big problem for him.
The next day I asked at reception to speak to the manager. I sat down in the office with him and politely explained what had happened - only to be told by him that Wadet had worked for the hotel for 5 years and I had perhaps been mistaken. He presumed that I may have mis-understood Wadets sense of humour!?
What a joke that was.
A day later, another guy working in the reception area (Carrying bags etc) pushed passed a friend of mine and quite literally nearly knocked her over.
The bed sheets and towels were not changed for 5 days and were only done so, once we HAD ACTUALLY BROUGHT THEM TO RECEPTION to show how much they needed a wash! AFTER previously requesting 3 times that they be changed.
The following day - the second manager asked us why we had brought the sheets down to reception and once we explained what had happened really nicely.... he just laughed!!!!! Diabolical state of management which just would not be tolerated in the vast majority of good establishments. This evidently lacks just that!

The food is Turkish - so its not going to suit ALL people. We thought it was ok, just not enough of a meat selection. But if you are looking for great meals - this is definitely not the place to come.

There are some lovely members of staff which are a HUGE asset to this hotel. Its so sad that their hard work and extremely long hours of providing good customer service is ruined by the lack of good management.
'Dolphin and Erish' are both excellent members of the My Meric staff team. Dennis and the girl on reception too.
Dolphin made us feel very welcome and always provided a high level of customer service. Erish was great in helping to sort smaller things out for us, like out toilet seat which had been broken from the first day we arrived in our second room.

Overall....the hotel is clean and the food is average.
If you want anything more special...go elsewhere.
The management of this hotel is absolutely appauling and they should be ashamed that so many people have had to complain about very similar things. They obviously just simply "DONT CARE".

“Appreciate the place/hotel for what you have paid for it!”

We have just returned from 9 nights in Turunc, My Meric and i felt that i had to write a review here after seeing all of the negative remarks on Trip Advisor.

We paid around £800 for 2 people, 9 nights of all inclusive - hardly expensive compared to some of the other holidays we have had! The hotel, when appreciated for what people have actually paid, is great value for money!

We arrived in Turkey at 1am and had to endure a 3 hour transfer to the hotel, my best advice would be to arrange a private transfer through J & M Travel (a local, English run travel agents). When we arrived we were greeted politely and efficiently and shown to our room on the 4th floor. (Tip: request a room on floors 4 upwards - any below and you are literally on the pool level). Our room had beautiful views of the pool, the beach and Turunc. The room was clean and tidy, it was also very spacious and comfortable.

The pool area, although small, was well kept and the bar staff were absolutely wonderful, they couldn't do enough for you. The restaurant staff were also polite and efficient, they gave wonderful service and chatted away to us every day. A couple of the young waiters are very keen to improve their English and would ask us to tell them different words or expressions, which we thought was brilliant.

Turunc itself is absolutely gorgeous. Nice and quiet, but with lots of bars and restaurants for drinks on a night after the hotel stop serving at 11pm (it is a Muslim country - i'm not sure what all these people complaining about the hotel stopping serving alcohol we're thinking!) Alcohol is priced the same as in the UK, 2 pints was 10 lira - £4.50. Food is very cheap in the restaurants and delicious, we ate out several times and enjoyed every meal. The Turkish Bath next door is fantastic and well worth the £20 for an hour and a half of pampering!

My only 2 bug bears in all this was the fact that over 9 nights the pool bar never changed the CD once. The bar staff would switch on music at 11am and not turn it off until 12pm that night. The same CD was played every day and after 3 days the music becomes predictable and irritating. If you want a quiet room do not book a pool facing room, the music and pool noise is non stop.

My second niggle is the hotel food. My partner and i were more than happy to spend the odd £20 outside the hotel to enjoy a 3 course meal in a beautiful, romantic setting because we paid so little for the actual holiday! I'm not sure what people who no doubt also paid as little as us were expecting for their money, smoked salmon and champagne?!

The food could be quite repetitive on a day to day basis, but there was plenty of it and the chef's did attempt English versions of their Turkish dishes. The food was not inedible, it was just basic. The drinks could be a little watered down but the coffee was lovely - i cannot complain about the lager either. Breakfast was the main problem, Turks do not cook English breakfast - instead there is a selection of hot and cold meats, eggs, breads and cereals. We would have a lay in each day and then head down to Korfez or Musti's who did fantastic English breakfasts.

Overall, you get what you pay for. Use the hotel as a base. There are plenty of great bars and restaurants such as Habit, Nirvana, Tapas Mapas and Pices (do NOT go to Walk Inn Bar - the owner is well known for groping young girls and women who have had a little too much to drink). Turunc is gorgeous and there are plenty of places to visit on the boats or by car/coach etc. My partner and i have decided to book 2 weeks next year in the same hotel - simply take a bit of extra spending money. For what you pay for the holiday it is worth it.

my husband and i just returned from 10 days in the my meric hotel in turunc. the hotel itself was lovely and the rooms were spacious. the food was not 4 star it was more like 3 star but there was always something there that we could eat, but please take extra cash with you to eat out as you will probably need it. NO DIET COKE OR ANY OTHER BRAND NAME JUICE AT ALL. all drinks were watered down apart from the beer. all drinks during the day are served in a plastic cup and in glass tumblers at night and all with really cheep juice. Staff were fantatic !!!!!! all very nice and helpful and attentive when required. pool was good and it was cleaned every day. rooms are cleaned every day and towles are changed when required. read the booklet in your room when you arrive as it tells you everything that you need to know about the hotel. turunc itself was absolutely beautiful.. we couldn't fault it. the drive from the airport is long and from marmaris to turunc you need to be driven up a mountain and back down it which is very steep but the drivers know what there doing so it wasnt that bad. there were many restaurantsand bars too. all you need is right there and the scenery is perfect and very romantic. watch out for the walk in bar across the road from hotel it is full of con artisits with sticky hands as well as fingers. the nirvana bar and the corner bar are great and the staff all lovely. overall we had a fantastic time and would go back again but we would probably go self catering. we only paid £710 for the 10 days so we werent bitter about eating out or going to the pubs as it was still value for the money.

Room Tip: floors 4-10 are probably the best
