I booked the Mert as part of a package holiday so I’m not too sure of its exact cost, but the overall holiday cost inc. flight was very low, so I assume the hotel was very reasonably priced.
Stayed in September, when the resort of Marmaris is still lively, but consists more of couples than children and groups of students.
The room itself was spotlessly clean, ample-sized, with a clean, well-equipped bathroom (the lack of shower curtain was a little distressing, as it turns the bathroom into more of a wet room, but not a major issue). There was A/C at no extra charge, and a safe that cost 20 Lira (about £8) to hire for the week.
Unfortunately, our safe broke and our valuables were temporarily locked in…staff sorted the problem out quickly but blamed us. To be completely honest, it had been showing signs of breakage since day 1, and we kind of manhandled it into a working state, rather than reporting the problem straight away. We were refunded 10 Lira and given a new safe at no extra cost, which I considered to be fair.
We had a lovely little balcony that offered a sea view, and we spent many a chilled moment sitting out there. There is also a well-sized, clean-looking swimming pool, but we didn't use it, as the beach/sea is so close.
Breakfast was included in our room rate, but was very basic, consisting of bread and jam. Tasty though it was, it didn’t really hit the spot, but no major complaints, as decent meals can be purchased for very low prices, so we self-catered the whole time.
The hotel is situated a 30 second walk from the beach, and a minute or so in the other direction is a decent-sized supermarket within a shopping centre (which also has a cinema), as well as dozens of independent local shops selling the usual wares of Turkey – clothes, video games, jewellery, etc.
All in all, a decent hotel in a fantastic location, that I’d happily return to.
