we went to marmaris at the end of summer this year with a group of friends before starting uni wouldnt recommend it. our group was a mixture of guys and girls but none of whom would recommend it. yeah it was a nice location but beach was dirty with cigarette butts and litter. on arrival our air con didnt work which was a sign of what was to come. the staff didnt speak any english!!! which made it hard to explain problems. the upstairs pool was only usable for the first two days of our trip as the filter broke so we had to stick to the indoor pool for the rest of the holiday. worse than this when in the sea we saw used tampons!!!! food at the hotel wasnt great, meat was undercooked, overpriced and just not very nice. our room wasnt much better. was very noisy at night and there was loads of bugs. bed sheets smelt funny and room smelt a bit of smoke. shower was very powerful and was dirty and one of my friends had jewellery go missing from the room which was a bit weird. we went to a market and some of the locals kept grabbing us and it was quite scary. one night in turtle bar a friend had her drink spiked and after that we were all very on edge. overall a disappointing trip considering the cost (£350 each) but we did have an alright trip just wish we had gone somewhere better. learn from our mistake!

I and a friend stayed at the Royal Maris hotel for 3 nights in September 2011. I need to start off by saying that Marmaris is one of the most beautiful places I've been, there is so much to do and see in this wonderful little place. We first went to Marmaris on a day trip from Rhodes Greece where we had been staying for the past month. We fell in love with this little town, went to a tour company called Nice tours, and an amazing tour guide named frank booked us a hotel, and a jeep safari excursion. We returned to Greece, and were scheduled to come back to Turkey 2 days later.
We arrived in turkey about 6 hours late due to our boat being re scheduled. Upon arrival to our hotel, they told us that since we did not arrive at our scheduled time the tour guide had told them to cancel our reservation. They promoted us to a manager’s suite free of charge. Despite this little miss communication that was quickly resolved, Hotel Maris is a wonderful hotel in an excellent location.

The room was spacious and clean, air conditioning, mini fridge, and spacious bathroom. The hotel has a rooftop pool, a restaurant, and an indoor pool and spa. It is right across the street from the beach, and there are free beach chairs. They also have a free continental breakfast; keep in mind that it is Turkish breakfast, not your typical Canadian breakfast. There is bread, boiled eggs. Vegetables, coffee, juice, etc. The hotel also has a wonderful café attached with great food and wonderful coffee.

We did a jeep safari that was a lot of fun, and included a free lunch, we also did an excursion to turtle beach, I would avoid that one, it is very long and you don’t see very many turtles but it is a good experience. There are so many wonderful things to do and explore in Marmaris, and the Turks are the kindest most helpful people I know.

The best thing about this hotel is location; it is located right on the main strip of beach, only about a 5 minute walk to the bazaar, bar street, harbor, and all the restaurants. For the price, you most defiantly can’t go wrong!

We also stayed at hotel Camden for a few nights, and I have to say that royal Maris was defiantly much better, and we would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The view from our room was fantastic - great for watching the sunset.
The room itself was comfortable and clean. Nice size for a couple. Twin beds instead of a double but that seems to be the norm in many hotels in Turkey.
Unfortunately due to being out of season the restaurant and room service were unavailable which was a bit of a nuisance when you've been travelling all day and don't really feel like heading in to town. Not the least annoying was the fact that everywhere you looked are big signs warning you NOT to take food or beverages into your room; which wouldn't have been a problem if they could have provided it themselves - which they couldn't. The indoor swimming pool and spa were both stone cold so we didn't use them and the breakfast in the morning consisted of lots of varieties of bread and not much of anything else -again, disappointing.
All in all probably a nice hotel in season but I wouldn't stay there out of season again as there is too much unavailable.

great location and good value hotel. we were on the 5th floor right near the rooftop pool. great views to the beach which is just across the road. pool was excellent. the hotal is a short walk to everything. restaurants right outside the door and across the road. Breakfast was nothing special but quite ok and the rooms are ordinary but nice.
