“Jennie and Phil.s besty hol in our favourite resort!!!!”

We spent two weeks at the Golmar last July and were very happy there. We have stayed in Icmeler many times, but have never been so well suited to our accommodation. Location was perfect for anyone wanting a good night's sleep, not always the case in turkey! We found the food at breakfast a good average and always a good choice. We always choose to eat out at night because dining out in Turkey is a great experience. Our room was on second floor and had a wonderful view of the bay, the water activities and the pool and bar. Although the hotel is quite old it was nicely decorated and clean with linen changed regularly. Although at the end of the bay, a short and pleasant walk took us to all the night life anyone could ask for. The one small complaint I could make is that the bar staff were not as friendly as we have come to expect from the turkish. All said we are going back to the Golmar Beach for two weeks again this year.We are early sixties and holiday with another couple who shared our opinion of this hotel.

Room Tip: We were very happy with our room facing the sea on the second floor, quiet and sunny excellent view.

“Below Expectations”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

I travelled to Golmar Beach last September with 2 friends as a last minute deal. Having been to Turkey before to Marmaris- where we had a great time i did't hesitate to book.

Personally i was disappointed with the hotel- it is in a fantastic location and that is about the only positive to be honest. The room was very dated and the bedding was old and ripped. The beds were the hardest i have ever slept on- we all had bruised hips after the week. Also the towels were scratchy and threadbare- some with stains on. You had to pay extra for a safe, and aircon which when i have stayed at cheaper resorts in Turkey this was included.
We stayed on a B&B basis and i must say the breakfast was rubbish. I dont expect much from these types of places except a couple of slices of bread and a bolied egg.

There was a sort of buffet which included tea/coffee, watered down cordial (if you could find a plastic beaker to put it in and if there was any left) bolied eggs, ham, cheese and watermelon. The "bread" was riped into a million little shreds and trying to find a piece big enought to toast was amusing. Also some of the butter sachets on the buffet had turned sour- only noticing when we had speard them on our "toast".

The pool was nice- but quite chilly until the late afternoon. Good service around the bar for drinks and the food in the beach side cafe for lunch was good. Also very good location- right on the beach front.

Housekeeping was quite frankly a joke. They came everyday and made the bed but nothing else. Glasses were not removed- bathrooms not cleaned- and bins were left full. The maids would get all the laundry and pile it at the top of the stairs/in the corridors whilst they folded them making it impossible to get past to your room without climbing over the top of it. Speaking of towels- we arrived on Tuesday and by friday the bedding had not been changed and the towels had not been changed. I took all the towels out of the room and to the maids blocking the strairs to ask for clean ones, i was told "tomorrow, tomorrow" but i insisted on clean ones there and then. No clean towels from Tuesday to Saturday????

Also if you get a room on one of the lower floors you get a very big balcony however it is not sheltered at all so in the morning it is covered in cigarette butts and ash which isn't cleaned up by the staff.

Overall i felt the price we paid (£450 each 1 week B&B) was too steep for the level of the hotel. The year before we stayed at Grand Faros in Marmaris for £350 each for 2 weeks b&b- I would throughly recommend this hotel instead!!

Room Tip: Get one on the higher floors to avoid a balcony full of cigarette ash

“A hotel for all ages”

Been going to golmar for 2 years. We have booked up for our 3rd year as half board. This hotel is a very nice hotel to stay in for any age. The rooms are basic, as are any rooms in turkey unless you pay top money, but they are very clean. All rooms have the basic needs eg television with english channels (Itv2, Itv4). They also have aircon and a fridge but these need to be payed for and towels get changed every day. The hotel is situated at the end of icmeler bay which is a very quiet setting however the bars arent that far to walk. The breakfast is again basic but this is like any other hotel. The night time food usually has something that everyone likes. There is also soups served at night time which is usually tomato and another one which tends to change each night. The chefs are very friendly and are always there to help. The receptionists are also very helpful and there is also a doorman who helps with your suitcases. The beach is right outside the hotel base and you can always guarantee a sunbed at any time. The pool has 2 slides and also a sun deck. There is also a few shops based on the Golmar so there is no need to go out of the campus in the day unless you need to .Overall ,this hotel is a very nice hotel that i would recommend to everyone however the only thing i must critizise is the fact that at night time meals, the waitors dont come to you to take your orders fast enough, usually you finish your dinner before they arrive. However, this hotel is an amazing hotel and i reccomend it to all.

“Golmar Beach Hotel - first trip to Turkey”

Spent the last week of September 2011 at the Golmar.

Arrived at 05:00, hotel very quiet, shown to our room. They gave us an enormous family room even though there were only two of us. Stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, which in our opinion was perfect as there are so many good restaurants to choose from.

The hotel is a good 3 star, clean and tidy and at the far end of the bay, so nice and quiet. The beach is small but the sunbeds are free and we never had a problem getting one, no matter what time of day we tried. The breakfasts were basic but that's Turkey for you...we found them ideal and they kept us going all day. Bread/toast, boiled eggs, lovely coffee, juice, grilled tomatoes with cheese on top, cold meats and cheese, etc

An excellent, relaxing week in Turkey and will definitely be going back. Would stay at the Golmar again
