Little change over the past few months.
New flooring in at least some of the rooms of the hotel. Otherwise, difficult to spot any change.
The Love Boat Restaurant provides excellent meals as ever, albeit the menu is less extensive than it was, main courses concentrating on pastas, chicken, seafood and steaks, all with the silver service.
The Sports Inn has something of an identity crisis. It is labelled as sports-featured spot, with sporting memorabilia, but only two of the main TV screens were showing sports in the evening, with the other two featuring what seemed to be the DJ’s creation of pop items, accompanying his very loud output. The earphones which used to be available to customers wanting to hear sports commentaries were said to be not working. The waiters had been cut from three to two, with one effectively going AWOL whenever a woman under 60 (years or waist inches) entered the bar, so service could be very slow at times.
There were not enough sunshades on the very hot sun terrace, presumably due to damage over the season. The bucket seats had been removed, leaving only the mattresses to lounge on. One elderly guest with a medical condition got down OK but was unable to get up again and had to be helped by a couple of guests (the nearby bar staff would readily have helped had they been asked). However, particularly as most of the guests are of advanced or advancing years, it really would be helpful if the mattresses could be replaced with proper sun loungers which are not so low, and also some sort of plastic seat.
This is a very friendly, family-run hotel, where one often sees the same guests (mainly getting on a bit) return year after year, especially in the spring and autumn, and I recommend it to particularly anyone wanting getting on a bit and wanting to try Turkey or Icmeler for the first time, at relatively low cost and on a no-frills but safe and pleasant basis. If you need anything whilst there, just ask your travel rep, or the hotel staff, or any of the guests, who are all British and most of whom have been there before.
