“Didn't even stay for 24 hours. What a dive!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2008

I have been to Marmaris 20 times over the last 9 years, and never stayed in such a dive.

Sofa bed collapsed, unable to use as a bed. Toilet seat stained. Shower just minging, and freezing cold. Was told the airconditioning would work after being on for 15 minutes, me and my friend left it on for over 12 hours, and it was cooler to go outside. In 45 degree heat, this is not good. Turkish hotels tend to be basic, this place was just bare.

Staff were very rude and unhelpful. Found a different place to stay myself, as was not going to wait for the rep to come hours later, because would not have been able to restrain myself from hitting someone. The staff totally gripped my [--]!!!!

Would not even recommend this place to my worst enemy.

If you have booked to stay here, I would seriously recommend you change hotels.

Would have put some photos, so you could see how bad this place was, but I didn't stay long enough.

“club ilayda----------club nightmare”

Was a bit worried about staying here after reading many many reviews all quite mixed, so I went with an open mind.

The rooms are very dated and grubby as is the landings, the kitchen area is very very poor, the fold away bed was broken, but the bathroom was quite nice and largish, the maids were very good and change our sheets and towels several times during our 2 week stay though they were very hit and miss in my sisters apartment.

Sorry to say we also had flea bites as did several guest.

The young girl on reception could not speak a word of english which was very frustrating to many guest.

The large pool at the front of the hotel was a nightmare, big groups of young lads took over, throwing each other in even when they were still on the sun loungers, the music was played at full volume all day and night (all dance music oh and I think they had a ronan keating song that was played constantly at 7pm).
When the lads came in about 4am we all knew about it.

On the up side the waiters are very nice and the weather was very hot ... the hotel Excelsior next door was very welcoming to all Club Ilayda guest during the day and the evenings entertainment

“This is the worst of them all !!!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2008

Right where the hell do I start?.
This turned out to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.
On arrival we thought it all looked rather nice, then we were taken to our room.

ROOM...Absolutely disgustng, stained pillows, flthy toilet bowl and shower cubicle, curtains hanging off, no way of making any snacks as there was absolutely nothing in the "kitchen" to use.
The sofabed was a complete waste of time and to make matters worse it was infested with bed fleas.
After we complained about the bed fleas the room was fumigated along with quite a lot of other ones. This was an action that should have been taken long before or they could even have replaced all of the beds as they knew this was a problem but they would take no responsibility for a lot of the guests walking around covered in flea bites.

Hotel Food... Totally inedible crap.
On my advice do not eat at the Ilayda, go across the road the Anastasia or just down the road to the Anfi Bar both had great food and you also got your free breakfast at the Anfi.

Swimming Pool Areas.
The main pool at the front was really busy so we manly used the one at the rear of the hotel.
The bar at this pool was never open so if you wanted a drink you had to get the waiter/pool attendent to go to the man pool.
Totally forbidden to take water or juice from outside the hotel to the pool area.
Staff were quite insistent about this but just ignore them and nothing is said.
Luckily enough we met some great people round the pool area who would be in the same position as we were in so at the end of the day we just had to laugh about our very own "Fawlty Towers"

Tour Company.
Scottravel, our first time ever for using this company, their company motto is "Passport to your Dreams" , this must be the worst company we have ever used and the rep was totally incapable of carrying out his job properly, when we asked him to shift us to another hotel he totally blanked us.
There was a moment when I felt like grabbing him by the throat and learning him some manners. Since we have returned we have sent away a letter of complaint to Scottravel so we will let everybody on here know the outcome.

Marmaris.
What a lovely place this is.
We met so much nice people outwith our hotel and if it wasn,t for these people making us all feel wanted we would certainly be looking at the whole Turkey experience in a different light.
From Bar/cafes to shops etc everybody was so helpfull.
If you are unfortunate enough to stay at the Ilayda please go to the shop across the road and speak to "Jimmy", a great guy who will give you the best exchange rate for your British money.

Finally....... If you are unlucky enough to be booked into this hotel, please think twice or contact your travel agent to ask for another hotel.

“Avoid at all costs”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2008

Just returned from a 2 week self catering holiday to the Club Ilayda. Avoid it at all costs. We were there in July 2006 and had a great holiday, went this year what a let down the place is filthy. We booked this holiday from Scottravel, whose rep should have informed them how run down it had become. Arrived in the Friday and by the Tuesday still had not received clean towels asked the maid for these who was very reluctant to do so, anytime after that I helped myself from the trolley at the end of the corridor. The following week the sheets had never been changed, I went to reception, who sent the maid in to change them and the towels again. The toilet or kitchen had not been cleaned the full 2 weeks we were there, had to do this myself. The floors were cleaned once during the 2 weeks. By the middle of the second week I spoke to the rep and asked him to have my room cleaned, it was thanks to him it was cleaned. Why do travel agents never check accomodation before the start of the holiday season to see what condition they are in. Was informed by the rep that the Club Ilayda will be completely renovated by next year, we will wait and see. The food at the resturant/bar was ok, although could have been cleaner. In the meantime avoid these apartments if you want a clean holiday.
