“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

We chose a sea view side and were very impressed with the quality of the hotel and its location. It is very central to a number of local resorts and the facilities to get to the town centre are excellent either by water boat or land taxi. The quality of the food and cleanliness was excellent. Most impressive was the night time entertainment with good bands on in the foyer every night. A high quality hotel with very friendly staff. The guest service manager went out of her way to make sure that our younger son was spoilt on his birthday. This is a hotel that I would definately want to come back to over again.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room.

“Top Class Hotel”

This hotel is well worth going back to again and again when visiting Marmaris for a holiday. Well laid out gardens with a large swimming pool. The room that we had was a good size and spotless but overlooking the hotel and pool/bar next door. It was a bit noisy if you were in your room early but by 11pm all the music had stopped and it went dead quiet. It has its own night club with a male belly dancer and Turkish dancers on occassions. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Having breakfast and dinner out on the patio most days, rather than in the main dining area, was terrific. The food (hot or cold i.e. salads) was of very high standards. The chefs did a fantastic job of cooking meals in front of you and keeping the hot plates well filled up as well as the salad bars and sweet counters. The private beach with its own bar was well worth a visit. The walk along the prom from the hotel to the harbour took about 30mins or so, the walk from Ichmeler to the hotel took an awlul lot longer but was worth it to see the beautiful scenery. Marmaris is a great town with plenty of good shops and resturaunts I would say that the only drawback in the area is the open air markets and the covered market by the harbour, especially if you go there from the middle to the end of October. The shopkeepers are nigh on trying to drag you into the shops to get you to buy. Same with the stall holders. Does get a bit annoying after a while. A word of WARNING though. DO NOT BUY ANY CIGS OR TOBACCO FROM ANY OF THE STALL HOLDERS. THEY COULD BE ILLEGAL CIGS ETC. (as told to us by our holiday rep.) Would certainly recommend this hotel to other people.

Room Tip: try for a sea view room. they appear to get the most of the sun. lovely when sitting out on the balc...

“WELL RUN HOTEL-FOOD EXCELLENT”

What a well run hotel, well worth a visit here. The staff were friendly, and the chefs, were to say the least, excellent. The food was fabulous. Private beach, beautiful gardens, right on the beach front, with its own beach bar. Music outside on the patio every evening whilst dining, and music in the piano bar after dinner, so relaxing....I have stayed in many hotels in this area, and this one is at the top of my list...could not fault the Grand Azur in any way. I also visited the hairdressers in this hotel, and i received the best service from a stylist ever, great job, eat your heart out Toni and Guy......October is a good time to visit, as the crowds have gone, bargains to be had, and the weather is still hot, look out for the bargains at this hotel, and give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms, and suites, small supplement, but well worth it, if you enjoy sitting on your balcon...

“Fabulous Holiday”

Have just returned from a fabulous holiday. The hotel was excellent, staff friendly and attentive and food was brilliant. The location is great and going in October meant that Marmaris was not to busy. Had some good days out and relaxed by the pool or on the private beach. Will definitely go again.

Room Tip: We had a sea view which over looked the pool too. Only downside was the cooking smells wafting up e...

“Another great stay ....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

Having stayed at the Grand Azur a few years ago, we decided to give it another go, despite some uncomplimentary reviews. We need not have worried, as we had a really brilliant time and we could not fault the hotel and facilities.
Our room was a reasonable size and was spotless. The only drawback was that we overlooked the next door’s hotel pool and bar – which was not unpleasant, but did get a little noisy in the evening. This did not detract from our holiday, as we did not spend a lot of time in our room.
The restaurants were very good and had a good variety of well cooked meals, many of which were cooked in front of you by some amiable chefs. Indeed the service overall was very good, despite some of the waiters/waitresses being very busy at peak times. The beef was probably the best we have had – cooked to perfection with no fatty bits and very tender.
The pool area was immaculate and there were usually plenty of sun beds and mattresses available as well as a clean towel every day. The private beach area was our favourite location as the scenery was breathtaking and there was always a myriad of boats and activities to keep us fascinated. The beach bar too was an added bonus and the food and drinks were plentiful and not too expensive.
The promenade had recently been refurbished all the way to Icmeler and also in the other direction to Marmaris. It was a lovely walk in either direction. We also had the advantage of a pier with taxi boats to Marmaris and Icmeler and taxi cabs and the Dolmus right outside the hotel front door. The dolmus (a small mini bus running every few minutes) is a brilliant way to travel – about 50p to either Icmeler or Marmaris town centre.
Our criticism last time we were here was that the evening entertainment barely reached average. However, this time there were two bands playing roughly alternate nights in the lounge bar or on the beach front (if it was warm enough at night). They were both excellent and played everything from Rock to Reggae, Tamla to Funky disco. Very entertaining and not too loud if you wanted to chat! There was also a Turkish night which featured a troupe of Turkish dancers – very energetic in parts and also a male belly dancer!
All in all we had a really relaxing and enjoyable holiday. The staff were very pleasant and helpful – and if you took the time to learn a few words in Turkish, they could not do enough for you. We were told that the hotel will undergo a major refurbishment this winter, (some areas were showing signs of wear and tear) which will once again bring it up to a very good standard.
I would like to thank the management and staff of the hotel for providing a very enjoyable holiday!

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a pool/beach view - rooms 370 - 376 are superb!
