“Superb in every way”

We've just returned from a week at Ece and are already trying to work out when we can go back!

The hotel itself - the island setting is beautiful, both peaceful and secluded but with all the life and facilities you could want within easy reach. There are lots of places to sit or lie, both by the sea and in the gardens. I think I counted more than twice as many sunbeds as there were guests - so there's always a choice of somewhere nice to sit and no getting up at 7am to put your towel on a sunbed! The gardens are beautifully kept, there is a lovely bar area and the pool area is also excellent and very clean. There are a lot of steps up from the beach area to the main hotel buildings, and also an uphill walk from the boat jetty on the other side of the island, but these just helped us feel like we'd earned our dinner! The hotel boat goes to Fethiye (or can detour to Calis) at set times every day if you want to explore a little further, although we spent a lot of time wandering round the island, swimming in the sea or canoeing - we didn't feel the need to venture very far most of the time!

The room - we were in Kartal, on the top floor and felt like we'd hit the jackpot with our enormous picture windows opening out onto the large balcony. Furnishing is simple but comfortable, and everything was impeccably clean. There is a minibar and also tea/coffee facilities.

Food - The dining area is outside, which presented a few issues when we had four days of thunderstorms! We all crammed into the small indoor space, which was cosy but led to some great fun and camaraderie amongst the guests. The food itself was excellent. We had the set Turkish menu for five evenings - these were very large but a good way to try lots of different things. You can book this at breakfast, or just choose from the a la carte menu. Some people on here have complained about high prices but we thought everything was very reasonable, especially given the special setting and the fact everything needs to be brought to the island by boat. Wine started at 35TL, a big bottle of water was 3TL and a large Efes was 6.5TL. I can also highly recommend Osman's mojitos! You can take the boat to Fethiye in the evening but we never did as the food at Ece was so good and the atmosphere so pleasant. Others have also complained about the cost of lunches, but again, we found them to be very reasonable and of excellent quality.

Staff - I can't speak highly enough of the staff. Osman seems to never sleep as he's always on hand to look after your every need. Handan, the owner, is also always around and very obliging. The other staff were all also exceptional.

Exclusive Escapes - words can't describe the excellence of the service this company provides. We always felt as though our holiday was important to them, and every single detail worked like clockwork. We went on a trip they organised to Saklikent Gorge and Pinara, and felt like VIPs all day. The rep, Jaz, was fantastic - never 'in your face' and no pressure selling of trips, just friendly, expert advice on how to make the most of our holiday. At one point she really went out of her way for us and we will be writing to EE to sing her praises.

The whole experience exceeded our expectations in every way.

“Our best holiday ever!”

We spent a week here in May 2011 and had the most wonderful time. 12 lovely rooms in a wonderful location on a secluded island reached by boat. We stayed in Marti (seagull). All the staff are warm and friendly - from Handan the owner to the chefs whose food was fantastic. Breakfast was fresh, tasty and plentiful. Rooms and garden / sunbathing areas kept meticulously clean. Lovely pool with fantastic views of the sunset. You can walk the entire island in about 45 mins (meeting some great characters along the way!) or do as a small group of us did one early morning, and canoe around :) We looked at this hotel several years ago and thought it may be a bit remote for us but we're so glad we took the plunge. We did venture over to Fethiye one afternoon for a wander around the port and backstreets using the free boat taxi and the gulet trip was the usual great "Exclusive" experience. Thanks as always to Jaz for all her help. We've already booked ourselves back in for next year. Apologies to Osman in advance for any late nights!

stayed at this hotel 20th august for a week.lovely setting and a feeling of space, although there are 12 rooms there are lots of lovely areas to sunbathe, read and relax with no one to bother you.osman is brilliant and always somewhere around to cater for your needs such a polite and attentive person.we were a little worried about eating as you either eat at the hotel or make arrangements to be ferried to the mainland but the food at this hotel is superb and we ate here every night.the hotel also has a surprisingly good wine list with prices ranging from a very reasonable £12 a bottle.nothing is too much trouble for the chef and his dishes are delicious.handan the owner is always near at hand and always very obliging.the room we had ( the stork room) was very clean bright and spacious, lovely bathroom.the cleaners and gardener were always around and very pleasant.the only negatives were the air conditionig which was hopeless and the noise from the mainland especially on the first night ( saturday) handan was very apolegetic and informed us it was because it was the end of ramadan celebrations.also the furniture on our balcony was a little tatty, but none of theese things would put us of coming back.we would certainly stay here again but i think a week is probably enough.thanks also to jaz the exclusive escapes rep for all her help, local knowledge etc. a lovely person.

Room Tip: the stork room has wonderful views

“Perfect Ece!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

We have just spent a very happy week at Ece on Sovalye, and have nothing but good to say about this place. The standard of service is excellent, the food is delicious (too delicious...oh, for another Ece Special Boreck!!!) and the gardens, swimming pool and bathing jetty areas are meticulously kept. The surrounding scenery is simply stunning, and our favourite early evening pastime was watching the sun set over the Dedocanese islands from the raised platform in one of the garden areas.

We had the Twilight Suite, a huge room with 2 bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin), a big terraced area (but rather limited views) and a fab shower. The one downside was that the air con really didn't make any difference to the heat in the double bedroom - and it was very hot! However, as the windows are all fitted with anti-mossie net panels., we simply slept with the window open.

The island itself is lovely - worth a wander round, which can be done in about 40 minutes. We also kayaked round - well worth it, but avoid the red two man canoe at all costs (veers to the left and causes much stress in the crew....!)!

We did visit Fethiye one day, but to be honest we were so comfortable on the island, and enjoyed the feeling of being away form it all so much that we preferred to stay on the island.

We booked half board through Exclusive Escapes, but this wasn't really necessary, and I realised that we would have been cheaper to go b & b - however, it wasn't an issue. Our bill at the end of the week was staggeringly small - I can't remember such good value for money in the Euro Zone!

The staff went the extra mile for everybody, and special mention must go to Osman, who seems to do everything!

We may have stayed in more polished hotels, but this cannot be beaten for friendly, attentive service, and I'd return in a shot.
