“Awful Experience”

The place was dirty, the grounds were awful with old cars and in poor condition. Attended a wedding that a friend was getting married. Prior to the wedding the owner Laurie was a real rude and not open to anything. Kept pushing a specific DJ to do the wedding who I guess has since died. he place really needs to be cleaned up. Bathrooms in the 'Gathering Space" were awfl. They look like they have never been updated. I guess the owner is some sort of wedding planner. Before she plans people's weddings, she need to get her act together!!!

“If she pays me? Still NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Don't bother. Terrible. Old and dirty and that includes the owner! Disgusting store she called a bridal shop that smelled like a Goodwill Store.
The grounds were in shambles. The owner (Laurie) kept stating how this will done and that will be done. Really, I don't care. I have my valuable time to come here with my groom. This place should not make me want throw-up!
Prices were the only thing that was realistic especially because who would ever get married here?
The owner was a total witch and turn-off from our first encounter. Again, I really don't care how many years you have been in business. Maybe she would have learned to clean up for company.
My words of wisdom for anyone thinking of using this venue, DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: No rooms. Best Western down the road. NOT HOTEL.

“Horrible and Dissapointing”

This is not an Inn. There are no sleeping rooms. It is a poorly managed piece of land that is badly in need of repair. From the unpaved driveway with all the potholes to the broken mindows and gardens crying for help I would NEVER get married or have any function here. The owner is mean and bossy. She does not care about her property and definitly does not care about what the bride and groom want for their special day. It's all about her! What a turn-off! Then to add insult to injury she wanted to try and sell us a honeymmon! I explained my Mother is a Travel Agent and she claimed to know more! Pathetic that my Mother has been selling travel for 20 years and this lady says she knows more! I was sure my Mom would be not be happy.

“Not in a Million Years!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2011

Owner was rude, disrespectful and difficult. She does not have anywhere for guests to stay. This is not an Inn. The property is run down and badly in need of care. After driving up an unpaved driveway with huge potholes filled with water and dirt. Broken windows and poorly kept grounds I was so disappointed that I wasted my time even going there. Laurie Beckman the owner was unbelievably crude and bossy. Who's wedding is it? Mine or hers? Then she is trying to sell me a honeymoon???? If it looks like "The Gathering Space?" NOT IN A MILLION YEARS!!!!

Room Tip: There are no rooms!

“Perfect for elopement”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

We decided to "elope" in some way, with only 25 guests including my husband and I.

I spoke with Laurie on the phone at first and found her to be very pleasant. We communicated via email and she ALWAYS responded back promptly with all the answers I needed. She went above and beyond, especially with the flowers...

When we visited the place, it was beautiful. The outside trellis was simple and very pretty, right by a small stream. The Gathering Place was BREATHTAKING. Absolutely beautiful space with light streaming in from the ceiling and the windows. Big adirondack chairs lined the deck with a view of the greenery around the property. The huge columns were lined with lights and greenery. It was air conditioned, which is nice for a hot summer wedding. The fireplace was also a very romantic spot to get married if inclimate weather should arise. I was almost hoping for rain on our wedding day because Laurie painted a picture of candles in and around the fireplace that sounded so romantic. We snatched it up.

On the day of our wedding day, even though we were a small player as compared to the much larger wedding later that day, Laurie allowed me to come a half hour early to change into my gown. Now, the room provided wasn't what I would call luxury, but it was perfect nonetheless. My photographer took pictures in the room, on the small balcony, even in the shower(hehe). I thought it was a perfect little room to get ready in. We were married down by the stream. Laurie took care of everything, letting everyone know where to go and what to do (as we had no wedding party, no rehearsal was necessary). She made sure the groom and grooms mom got their flowers, which by the way, were incredible (I think she uses Bella Fleur in Altamont). I had Gardenia's and mint leaves... gorgeous. He had a silk lilac that didn't look in the least like silk. Laurie directed me and my fathers to where we needed to go and provided someone to cue the music for me to walk. The ceremony was short and sweet, the JOP was a wonderful woman. We had some pictures by the wishing well and under the trellis. Then we proceeded to the Gathering Place for our dance, our cake and champagne toast... which I might add, was all included in the elopement package. She put linens down and really made the space feel like an actual wedding not just a quickie elopement. She went above and beyond what she needed to do to make our day very special. She may be abrupt, and a bit opinionated, but she knows her stuff and I liked how straightforward she was with us. And might I add, we had a beautiful ceremony, cake, champagne toast, officiate, etc, all for about $1,000. You really can't beat it.

Laurie was a wonderful hostess, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to elope but want something nicer than a town hall wedding. I have heard nothing but pleasant things about this place and wanted to share my pleasant experiece. A+ in my book.
