“Fair hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We (6 of us) stayed here for 1 night booked by our travel agent. We could see it was going to be dated from the outside and it did seem hard to find being in a little side street (we had a turkish driver) so you would really need to know where you are going. But the staff were friendly and jovial and I was able to use the computer for free (bonus..) Our room was fair but seeing it was for 1 night only we didn't worry. We went for a walk around the area and found a little place where we had pide for dinner. The next morning we went to the Museum for the Whirling Dervishes and that was fantastic don't miss it!!! Breakfast was reasonable.

“Place is dated and tired, and needs a revamp”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

In my 3 weeks travel around Turkey, this has to be the worst accomodation I stayed at. Considering that this is a 3-4 star hotel, it certainly does not live up to those standards. The place looks and feels dated, tired and old. The walls, carpets, sofa, lounge, bedrooms, toilets, needs a major clean up. The biggest peeve for me was that the air-condition in the room was not working properly, the room never cooled down below 28 degree C, and the a/c made noise throughout the night. I could hardly get any sleep that night from the stuffiness and the noise. At breakfast, a fellow traveler said the same of his room, that the a/c in his room wasn't working as well. The pros of this hotel is that it's in a good location, you can walk to the major attractions. Also, the breakfast spread is decent. Still, I wouldn't recommend any one to stay here, as given a choice, I wouldn't have stayed here.

Room Tip: Ask to see the room before you actually agree to the room. Check that the A/C is working, especially...

“Good hotel in a central konya location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 June 2011

We stayed her as part of a touring holiday in the Cappadocia area. Finding the hotel by car is not the eaiest of tasks as it is tucked away on a little side street. There is no parking immediately outside the hotel, but there is a car park almost immediately opposite, and the hotel will arrange parking for you. When we told the car park attendant we were staying at the Selcuk he gave us free parking - I assume they have some kind of arrangement.

Although we thought we had booked in advance, the receptionist claimed to have no record of our booking. When we showed them the e-mail from themselves making an offer of rooms and our reply accepting the offer, they claimed that although they had received our reply they had not accepted it. Having said that they had plenty of rooms available, and honoured the price given in the e-mail. In general the hotel staff were pleasant and responded to our requests.

The rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable and well furnished.

Breakfast was excellent - a buffet with a wide selection and freshly cooked omelettes.

For us a major benefit of the hotel was the ability to walk to the principal sights of Konya. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant, but found a couple of good restaurants within easy walking distance.

Overall the hotel was exactly what we wanted and made a good base for visiting Konya and the surrounding area.

“You don't have a choice:)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

Of course I am joking becouse there is a choise, but if you are a tourist and want visit Mevlana Museum and see Dervish Dance in the evening and stay not so far from those attractions Selcuk Hotel is the best choice. 1,5 km. This hotel is 4 star but I felt like in 3,5. Almost everything was OK, But this "almost" make a differece.
I would recomend a lokanta (restaurant) where is very tasty turkish food. Going from Selcuk hotel to Mevlana Museum in the half of that distance on the right, staing on the corner of streets is Sisa (i don't remember well this name). Fantastic place and very good food.
If you want to see Dervish Dance ensure yourself which days they play. In August shows are in the garden of Mevlana Museum only on Wensday and Thursday. Actually this is not a dance. It is a ceremonial consist of musicians, eulogists and actors playing roles of monks. Worth to see.
