In our 18 days in Turkey, regretfully, this was the worst hotel we overnighted at. The only redeeming factor was the worthwhile visit to the Mevlana Muzeum, but what a price to pay!
The location was excellent, near the Muzeum and near to all the shops and bazaar. We had a double and an adjoining single room to make it a triple. The double bedroom faced the street and it was very noisy; what do you expect right on the main street. Unfortunately, the single room was just as bad. It had a window opening to a kind of a chute and all the conversation from the area below simply got amplified all the way up to this bedroom.
The rooms were tired, smelled of cigarettes. The bathroom was pretty basic.
There's more to come:
Nobody spoke Engilsh although they tried hard to please and were polite.
The breakfast was so so.
The whole hotel was dark and unispiring. Urgent refurbishment required.
We had real trouble with the language in Konya. The saving grace was meeting Murat at the Sifa Restaurant across the road. We thought, ...here we go again, when he dragged us to his cousin's carpet place. But bless, him, his cousin gave us cai, there was no hard sell, he contacted his friend who duly arranged for a taxi for us to avoid being given the run around by taxis in general in Konya, so we were told. Sure enough, taxi came the next day and took us to the otogar for the promised 20 YTL. Murat gave us a long and helpful lecture on Konya.
So at least we can recommend asking for his help at Sifa Restaurant, where the food, incidently, was not bad.
Hope others can recommend a better hotel in Konya.
Hajijohn and family.
