We had a beautiful big room -with a lovely woodwork on the ceiling. The rooms are very clean & well appointed. Modern comforts are well incorporated into this hotel.
The garden is beautiful & it is lovely to take in breakfast overlooking the garden makes for a lovely start to the day. The food is excellent, very good quality & very fresh.
It is half way up the hill in a quiet location with lovely views of the old town & within walking distance to the centre of the old town restaurants.Ask for suggestion on restaurants at reception, the staff a friendly & very knowledgeable on the area & helpful

We like to stay every summer at Gul Evi on our way to Evrenye. Best service quality, excellent breakfast, great bed for a good night sleep. Choose the rooms in the second house for a quite morning sleep. Gul Hanim will give you the best advices for selecting the best restaurants or shopping addresses. We arrived on a sizzling hot july day and entered into a cool heaven where everything has been designed just right. The 19th century Ottoman mansions that make up this boutique hotel are restored in such a way that the original buildings are are not "modernized" by partitioning or adding modern conveniences but thoughtfully integrating necessities such as bathrooms and heating into the existing structure. All aspects of traditional architecture that have evolved through the centuries are preserved and can provide valuable guidance for those who seek tangible examples of sustainability for building in an urban context. You can tell what is old and what is new. if you wonder about why's or how's, you will get answers from the host who is also a scholar, while you enjoy cool drinks on comfortable settees in a serene garden or in a hidden bar behind the cafe. The breakfast is a feast with authentic cheeses coming from their original regions, olives, nuts and dry fruits, fresh bread. But the crowning experience is trying the preserves that your hostess has invented. I recommend this place to all who want to visit Safranbolu, for the service here is as wonderful as the environment. It is a small operation by only 5 people (including the owners) and they cater to all things that make up the experience including the high quality, non-intrusive music, help in arrivals and departures, and engaging conversation when you feel like it...

This hotel is a hidden jewel. We planned to stay just one night on a long drive, but the owners are so friendly and the atmosphere so great that we stayed a second night - would have stayed longer if we had the chance. The hotel is a little deceiving because it is actually two restored Ottoman mansions behind each other with a wonderful garden and lawn in between. The breakfast was sumptous - try the homemade mulberry preserves.
