Stayed 2 nights at this hotel as a family of 4. We found the room basic and the bathroom rather smelly and shabby looking, with mould between the tiles. Some of the rooms don't seem to have windows to the outside but only to the central corridor and are rather small and claustrophobic. The breakfast buffet was large, but of low quality. The staff at the reception was generally rude and disinterested. They were trying to flog over-priced trips to Ephesus and after having declined those offers, they ignored us completely for the rest of our stay. Though the hotel is located centrally and convenient for the bazaar it is in a very run down part of town and not ideal for families with young children. To our dismay the satellite TV provided in the rooms does not filter porn channels! Overall not a pleasant stay and we are quite surprised by the high ratings that this hotel does not deserve.

Service is the best we ever had! We brought in fruits from the street into the restaurant. The waiter brought me proper fruit trays. When I washed the fruits, he actually came to remove a bin that's close to where I stand. Very kind!

Breakfast is an amazingly wide selection. We also tried dinner. The grilled fish and lamb chop are both very tasty. Service again is very fast and professional.

Rooms are ok but very clean and secure. We even found cotton buds, comb, and toilet seats with a 'sanitized' strap.

Finally, the surrounding is an authentic turkish neighbourhood. We didn't see any tourists around and people took much more interest in us than elsewhere in turkey. I loved the experience of walking through the markets to buy fresh fruits, talk to th friendly barbers etc. It didn't feel dangerous at all in the day time. At night there's a main street nearby so not too bad.

This is a very nice hotel -- rooms are clean and nicely appointed, wifi works perfectly. The breakfast buffet is huge. I had read some negative comments about the neighborhood, and frankly, I don't understand why. It's got a lot of character and it feels like the real Turkey -- lots of tea houses with men drinking tea -- at night the men sit out in the partk and watch movies on a TV set. Almost the best part. However, the real best part of this hotel was the service. The staff was extremely attentive, trying to make sure that we had everything we needed and very hospitable, offering us raki and fruit. Great place to stay.

This hotel is close to the "Agora" of Izmir (which is worth a short visit) but still the neighborhood of the hotel is a bit weird and "un-hotelly" if that could be used as a word.
About the hotel itself it was just good though our room wasn't the best, it had no window except for a strip close to the ceiling and was right next to the hotel bathrooms. The breakfast was very good. The rest of the sights of Izmir are within an average walk from the hotel.
