“Avoid like plaque”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

I had to stay at Radisson Cesme on-off season for business purposes few times. Definately worst hotel in the area. Food is a disaster, rooms are not better than a low grade drive-in Georgia road side inn with very thin walls, you can easily sit 2-3 hours at a table and never see a waiter, in fact you'll hardly see any hotel staff around.

It's quiet common to see breakfast leftovers on tables around dinner time, they never really clean them. My co-workers reported the hygene is terrible, and they were right. We could barely get a glass of water that didn't have things floating in. Plates were either stained, half dirty or wet at lunch and dinner. We had a mushroom soup that tasted exactly like instant coffee, and one day later we had a soup that tasted like bare salt boiled in tap water.

Food was not amazing and choices were too little, and taste was not better than a gas station buffet at Sunday midnight. You have to test drive 4-5 dishes before you can find something you can chew on.

Room hygene was not so bad, that's one thing outstanding.

Few members of hotel staff were helpful when we could dig them out and ask for help, but majority for some reason doesn't even bother talking to you when you adress them. And if you plan to host a business events here, never do it. You'll suffer a lot. Honestly only things good about this hotel are somewhat good looking architecture and technical stuff.

Considering hospitality and quality around Izmir / Cesme area, this hotel is a shame for both the area and the brand. Never stay here unless you really have to.

Room Tip: Rooms are not too bad, but everything else is.

“Too expensive for a noisy long-weekend”

I definitely not recommend this hotel to couples. It is very crowded, walls are too thin and if your neighbor is watching TV you cannot even sleep in the room. Besides, there are two many children. They are screaming after 7am and you wake up. you cannot rest if you want to do so.

Rooms are very small and does not look like a 2-year-old hotel, 10 maybe.

Food is OK but there are flies everywhere, we could not enjoy it much. Service is too slow, you wait 10-15 minutes for your drinks to come. For lunch you wait approx. an hour for food and when it comes it is usually not what you ordered.

Pool is large and good yet again children. You cannot spend enjoyable time by the pool and since babies are also allowed to the adult pool, hygiene is questionable.

Sea is clean, yet beach is very crowded it is hard to find a day bed available. Spa is very nice, maybe only good thing about the hotel.

If you are couple looking for some privacy and rest, do not go Radisson Blu Cesme. Otherwise you will be paying pretty good money for headaches.

“Pretty good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

The hotel is well located on very large grounds with a swimable section of shallow beach at the far end and a huge pool in the middle. A decent size reception area greets you and the front desk staff are pleasant. English is variable throughout, but expected.

The rooms are average for the price - tidy, on the small size and as other reviews have mentioned, the seaview option is bit of a stretch. We paid for the deluxe something option, but other than perhaps a larger balcony, it looked fairly comparable to friends staying in the standard at ~25% less. Unfortunately the build standard is poor - things are generally nice on the outside but there seems to be barely any insulation between rooms and you can easily hear the neigbours. We moved floors after the first night, having been kept up by a crying baby next door. Others in our group also mentioned how thin the walls were and really there is no excuse for this in a new building, marketing itself as 5 star. It would be an expensive fix to do now....

We actually liked the music by the pool. Sure, some of it was cheesy house well past its best by, and I'm surprised it is even allowed at near dance volumes occasionally, but no real issue for us and the good tracks were enjoyable. Perhaps a compromise would be for just an hour or two late in the afternoon as prep for cocktail hour, not from lunchtime for the day?

There are plenty of drink/bar/food options scattered around and plenty of staff to serve. You could very easily stay self contained there, but other than the great breakfast, the food is patchy and there are better options in the small town a short distance (cab/bus not walk) up the road, including a fairly happening authentic nightlife.

Internet is free (nice), and room service efficient. I think we were just coming off peak season so it was a great time to be there as I could see the small beach part in particular becoming bit of a bun fight when things are fully booked out. We stayed there five nights and saw several functions in that time, so that needs to be factored. Again, not an issue for us.

It is a nice resort hotel with some great pluses outweighing a few small negatives that are mostly fixable.

“LOVELY EXPERIENCE!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011 via mobile

First and foremost, thank you to all the staff at Radisson Blu, Cesme.

We wanted a relaxing holiday, with a clean, family environment in a nice location and we got that.

My sister and I were pleasantly surprised as soon as we walked into a very beautiful and modern lobby at about 2am so you can imagine how tired we were. We were greeted by very polite and friendly staff who quickly showed us to our room.

Our room rate (pretty pricey but worth it) came with a breakfast and dinner buffet. Let me tell you this is one of the main reasons the price was worth it. It was one of the best we've ever experienced. The variety of food is mind boggling. And so unbelievably fresh. Hats off to the chef. The only thing I would criticise in this department is that the waiting staff are quite inexperienced and hardly speak English. But they're so sweet and polite that you can't get mad at them. My advice to the management would be to improve on this as it would make the experience a lot more enjoyable. The other is the live entertainment. A man and woman duo. They were so monotonned that I felt bored stiff. Much better to put recorded background music instead.

The rooms are average and small but clean and room service excellent. No complaints there. However, the Walls are extremely thin so everything from next room can be heard. So careful there ;)

And now for the pool and beach. One word. WOW!! Sooo clean and perfect for swimmers. 50m pool that's spotless and very pleasant. There are people who have complained about the music around the pool but it didn't bother us at all. In fact we liked it.

The beach although small, is also spotless with lovely soft sand. There's always a lovely breeze which makes the hot weather much more bearable. The water is a nice temperature and for those who prefer to just lounge around in the sea, this is the one for you. It doesn't get deep for at least over 50m or so.

And now for the piece de resistance! The spa. WOW again. Seriously this is state of the art. For those of you with joint pains or any pain, try the thermal bath. You'll feel like a new person. And it goes without saying to have a hamam experience.

As for what to do out of the hotel, there's Cesme Marina and Alacati to visit. All a 10 minute drive. Don't take taxis. Too expensive. Just hail a bus (small White minibuses) from anywhere you happen to be. 2.5 lira per person. You can also be dropped off anywhere you choose.

Finally, this holiday was so good that we sent our parents straight after we came back. Their view? Even better than ours. Not one single complaint or negativity anywhere.

Thank you Radisson Blu. See you next year.

Special thanks to Hakan Bai, Lutfi, Charlie and Ozge.
