“Paradise on windsurf spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2011

We went to this Hotel with big group to do windsurf. I was pleased and surprised when we arrived. Hotel area is wonderful, a lot of grass, big pool, nice piere, white sand, blue sea (rather cold). Rooms were clean and comfortable. We also enjoyed restaurant (all inclusive service). I spend there many weeks and was happy to spend it there.
Big lobby is nice place for evening games or talkings.
Near the Hotel is 2 bars and 1 open disco- concert area. Actually this is not enough to have fun, but in 15 km there is town Cesme, where you can go by taxi and enjoy the nightlife.
Windsurf spot is really near (actually there is only one hotel near). So you do need car so much (it is possible to town on the minibus)

“Hotel OK, not safe for young children”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2010

Hotel review as follows:

Appearance and Cleanliness: hotel looks ok. Rooms large and spacious and decorated ok. It was refurbished in last few years but they have cut corners. ie rather than replace bath and toilets they painted them white?!?!? strange as this is now pealing and yellow. They seriously need to vacuum an mop the floors in the rooms as there is lots of sand which mean you need to wipe your feet when you hop into bed.

Location: on the beach in a quiet area about 3km from Alicate. Great for windsurfing and ocean outfront is sheltered and slopes down very gradually so great for kids. You will need a car or be stuck in resort. Alicate is fabulous for cafes, shopping and markets (5 min) and Dalyan for amazing fish on the water front and is only 10 min away.

Food: awesome, very fresh and tasty turkish food. No pie and chips here!

Clientelle: 80% turkish. We were only english speakers with a few germans and russians

Child safety: the pool is unfenced but you are aware of this. There are no lifeguards. What concerned us is that there are big pieces of a fence missing behind bushes within the childrens playground / creche area. Behind his is another pool! We left our little ones play on swings and slides as we thought it was safe. It is not. On the third night we couldnt find them and then found them splashing each other on edge of this other pool which no one can see. it is only a matter of time before the unthinkable happens here unless this sort of thing is sorted. Also quite a few loose wires and things in toilets by beach.

Noise: the central area is quite noisy and it travels up. We were in a room which didnt face this central area so noise ok for us. others we know were on central part and the noise was every night till min 11pm some nights till after 3am. With shouting and laughter. After numerous complaints our friends were furious at getting distrurbed every night and hotel management allowing it to continue.

Cost: Hotel is reasonably priced for the area. the all inclusive costs we paid to agent were acceptable. However everything else is ridiculously priced. a coffee is EUR5, suntan cream EUR25, massages EUR55 (more than home). We couldnt work out why it was so expensive. If a masage was EUR30 or coffee was EUR2 or even 3 we probably would have had 10 of each, as it was we had none. And we sat here everyday seeing the staff have no customers.

So all in all ok, you get what you pay for. Could be great reasonably priced holiday for families if they could clean the place better, control the noise and fix the safety issues.

“Windy :)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 March 2010

The hotel is located 3 km away from the center of Alacati. The water is a little colder comparing to other well-known shores of Turkey like Bodrum and Kemer. And it is windy for sure which makes hot summer days endurable, I believe. If you are interested in windsurfing, there are places around where you can hire a windsurf or have a tutor. The hotel is preferable if your wish is to benefit from the sea in all terms. Rooms were okay. The buffet offers options for people with different tastes.

“Get a good deal off season, otherwise: vacation factory”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2009

We got lucky and got a fantastic deal (geared towards local weekenders) in April and overall I thought it was a fun 4 night stay, but we also had problems.

The Good:

The hotel is directly on the beach, though it was not clear how much of the beach is theirs ... water was too cold to fight over beach spots anyways, but kiddo had a blast playing in the sun and he eventually even got all wet.

The room was nice and very standard .. a 4 star hotel really should have something better than 14" CRT TVs ... while we had the all inclusive package, the minibar would have been charged extra .. weird. (And they do not allow you to bring drinks upstairs ... even more weird)

The food was all around good and plenty (while relying in cheap things like chicken and fatty fish) with some not so great stuff (Manti without meat filling?) But we could always have plenty of veggies and salads .. which was very nice.

Service was rather average, which I expected for the off season, but we had one waiter, Emre, who not only spoke English very well, but was also a fine example of how service should be done ... cudos to him ..

I did not expect the kid's club to be up and running, and it really wasn't, but for Saturday night, when the hotel was full of people from Izmir, they had hired two animators and our son was very happy, though it was all in Turkish, but even the day after he would ask to go to his new school ... (but nobody was there)

The Bad:

When you get a fairly cheap all inclusive deal, they try to minimize cost by not asking you if you want another drink and being pedantic about 23:00 the all inclusive bar is closed ... there was one lady at the bar (no name tag, so maybe higher ranking) who was especially nasty to me.

Free wifi is nice .. when it works .. the overall connection was ok, but we had to change rooms once .. and then the connection was gone.

A 6 story hotel with 400+ beds is seriously underserved by only 2 elevators with max 4 people capacity.

The "Beer Haven" bar, the only indoor place you can smoke, has the most uncomfortable lighting I have ever seen .. feels like an interrogation room.

Location, if you do not have a car, sucks .. you are stuck at the hotel .. or you figure out the Dolmus system to go to town .. and then rent a scooter .. which seems fum

Spa: pricing way too expensive .. so .. not used .. the thermal pool on the other hand is very nice.

The Ugly:

We had arrived on Friday and there was some event going on .. and they were partying until 12:30 .. and then another hour of clean up noise ... sound travels easily all the way from the event hall through the atrium to the rooms .. it sounds like you left the door open .. my wife called 3 times about it and got stupid, demeaning replies and the promise that this does not happen every night ... what bugged me was that they had closed the bar for guests at 11PM .. while there was a huge party going on that hotel guests were not invited to, so .. you had fun with the noise but you were totally left out ...

Now .. similar thing happened the next night .. this time it was just the fact that the place was 99% packed with locals and they wanted to party all saturday night .. this time my wife got the very helpful recommendation to just drink some more Raki to fall asleep .. very professional ..

So .. I complained next day and our request for a more quiet room was handled with no further issues (other than i lost the wifi)

Summary: I would only return to this place if it was again off season and that killer deal we got .. otherwise .. i don;t want to know what that must be like in July / August ... but the hotel seems to be fully booked by German and British tour groups .. so I don;t think they even care much about review like these ...

If you don;t mind crowds, buffet style food, want to wind surf .. you could actually have quite some fun there .. but bring ear plugs!

We also found that Alacati is actually a nicer place to check out than Cesme .. beautiful market on Saturdays
