“Worst place I stayed in Turkey”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Before travelling to Turkey, I had been checking reviews of different hotels in Pamukkale and couldn't find anything suitable. At the end, the day before arriving, I just checked the Lonely Planet again and decided to go to this hotel.
Yes, it's very close to the travertines, it's very cheap and the heating was on the whole night. But the disadvantages are far greater.
Somehow the reception staff already knew I wanted a dorm, which meant to them I wasn't going to spend much money. So they didn't bother to ask me about my travel plans in Turkey as they had done with the previous guests. They didn't explain much about the hotel, either. So, staff not nice.
The dorm was in fact a four-bed room. Two of the beds had clearly been used recently, as they were not done. There were also used towels over all beds, empty water bottles, bus tickets, etc. But the bathroom was even worst: towels, soap and mud on the floor and in the shower and a full waste-bin. Luckily there was toilet paper. I didn't bother to inform them about that. I just made a small floor cleaning with the towels, took one of the clean beds and used my own towel and soap. For one night it was enough.
The breakfast was very poor. The only good thing was the pita bread everyone got from two ladies who were baking it right in the bar.

Room Tip: Check it before paying!

Artemis Hotel welcomes a variety of guests, and all are treated equally. We are sorry you did not find your dorm accommodation satisfactory.

“OK for one night”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

Let me preface by saying that I am an older female traveler, not usually staying at hostels. For one night, this hostel is OK. The 2-bed room is quite compact, leaving very little room for luggage. The bathroom/shower are in need of renovation. The breakfast is so-so. There is a big ground floor lounge and big second floor breakfast room for guests to lounge around. There is also a pool. There are 2 free computers in the lobby and several eating places right on the street. Pammukkale was a bit of a let down because the Suha bus company in Goreme sold me an overnight bus ticket to Pammukale (not Denizli) but I was dropped off at Denizli at 6am with instruction to wait for the service van to take me to Pammukale which never showed up. Once I managed to get to Pammukkale, I realized that the local authority had turned off most of the mineral spring water running down the travertines, resulting in dried and ugly travertines. I guess October is already off-season there. Pammukkale is worth half a day. This hostel is convenient and OK enough if you stay overnight.

“Decent hotel, convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We hadn't booked any hotel before we reached Pamukkale after a night bus from Istanbul. So when the pick-up servis from Denizli dropped us off here, we didn't bother to look around much.
Also, we only wanted a room till the evening, as we had another bus to catch. The hotel agreed to give us a room for the day at 40TL. It opened to the swimming pool from over a thatched terrace, so not much view there. Though we could steal a spot of travertines from the balcony.
The room was clean and warm enough, the bathroom not as much.
The hotel's location is quite convenient though, just a 5 minute walk to the gate of the travertines.
As for the breakfast buffet we had there, very disappointing. Although we were starving and ate quite a bit, there was nothing going for the buffet spread.

“Decent hotel in Pamukkale with nice staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

Didn't have anything booked upon arrival in Pamukkale. Was picked up in a sketchy looking van and taken to another hotel but we then asked to get taken to Artemis. Nice staff, we probably could have bartered the price a bit more (60TL for two people) but we were too tired after our night bus. We liked it from the beginning because the staff didn't get pushy about tours or bus tickets and instead just answered our questions nicely. Great wifi connection and if it were warmer the pool would be really nice too.

This rather cheap hotel (60TL) is not really inspiring but will provide you a bed just in front of the bus station when arriving late. The room is ok (beds more or less comfortables, wifi, TV), the bathroom is old and a bit dirty, some furnitures are broken. There is a swimming pool and a hamam but I wasn't motivated for the hamam due to the strange odour.
The breakfast was the worst we had during one month in Turkey. Big buffet but bad quality.

In summary, a real cheap backpacker's option!
