“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

We are well traveled and were staying in Turkey with our good friends. We stayed here for 2 nights. After the Sacred House this was a great disappointment. The hotel was overbooked so we were put in a house nearby which was dingy and slightly dilapidated. Our friends were moved to the main hotel the next morning but we stayed on in the 'alternate' room. I cannot understand why other people rave over this place. Yes the rates are reasonable but the furniture is sparse and it feels like a budget holiday inn. Eren the owner while friendly promised us with a big fuss some special pastries for breakfast but then never turned up to cook them. The breakfast was ok, but no special touches, Perhaps she was ill? but no explanation came, neither did she see us off the following morning, in sharp contrast to the owners of Sacred House who were up to see us off at an early hour.
The hotel is in a good location and just a short walk into town.Every trip we did in Capadoccia was spectacular and so interesting but avoid the wine making place near this hotel which is full of grumpy old men.

I wanted to offer a brief overview of our booking policies at the Serinn House and the Evinn, in Cappadocia, Turkey. Guests who reserve rooms for either of these are always sent a written confirmation and photographs of the rooms - whether they have booked directly or through a travel agency - to ensure that they have indeed selected and booked the room in which they wish to stay. Because we do have just six rooms at Serinn House and just two suites at Evinn, we never overbook our rooms: we would prefer to let a room remain unoccupied rather than to be unable to offer accommodation to a confirmed guest.

Additionally, while both hotels are under the same management, the rooms at each one are unique and have different features, and the rates at the Evinn are significantly lower. Incidentally, this review should not be under the Serinn House.

My staff and I work very hard to ensure that our guests leave our premises with a good feeling about both the hotel and the region. With few exceptions, I am usually on hand to answer questions, as well as to greet our guests when they arrive, and see them off when they depart. In the morning, I am usually in the kitchen baking, or at the terrace chatting with guests. At times, however, there are sometimes unavoidable exceptions, as we are a small hotel.

The vast majority of our guests have a wonderful experience and I am delighted that this is the case. We look forward to welcoming visitors to Cappadocia, and I certainly hope that potential guests will arrive with the understanding that this is a truly unique part of the world.

“staying at home abroad”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

I cannot add anything new to the other positive reviews about this great place!! Eren and Cem go out of their way to make you feel at home but in a very unobtrusive and friendly way. I felt like I was staying with family who really cared about what you were doing and genuinely wanted to help you make the most out of your experience in their gorgeous region.

Yes, I'm biased: Eren upgraded my room, she and Cem went out of their way for me every single day (I stayed 5 days) and even drove me to places when they thought I couldn't make it to the bus in time.

I'd go back in a flash (and I'm planning to, next summer).

“Perfect Cave Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

Serinn House is a small and intimate hotel that is the perfect base for touring Capadoccia. Eren is a splendid ever-present host, and her small staff are all lovely. Eren has a great knowledge of her area, and gives excellent advice; she can fix everything from hire cars to bus journies! The breakfasts are gorgeous, in a stunning setting, and the cave rooms are incredible. There are some great (and very reasonably priced) restaurants in the village, which Eren will advise on and book. All in all, it could not be bettered.

“Best Hotel we have stayed at in years of travel”

Friendly. Charming. Unique. Hard to come up with enough adjectives to recommend this incredible hotel. It was a terrific experience and something that we have told many people about.

“A breath of fresh air, even in a cave”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

We had the lowliest room in the place (there are only 6) and it was still lovely. Caves are dark, enclosed spaces, but between the window and the modern styled lighting, it seemed very nice. The whole place is beautifully appointed and Erin is the most accommodating hostess you'll ever run across. She definitely went above and beyond the call of duty for us. The view of Urgup from the dining terrace is spectacular, and the food is terrific.

Room Tip: The most expensive room is the nicest, but I suspect the others are pretty much the same.
