We went to Cappadocia so my companion could fulfill a wish: A balloon ride over the surreal landscape of Göreme. Our base, the Temenni Evi was very welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, including a present of a bottle of great Turkish red wine that we finished at sunset in their inner courtyard, just outside our room. Our first room was pretty but had poor ventilation. Without asking, on the second day they changed us to a sumptuous room, that was outstanding by any standards and had nice views. Everything was clean, nicely decorated and functioned well. The breakfast (included) was wonderful (freshly made cheese omelettes, deep-red flavorful tomatoes that we do not see any longer in the USA, olives, cold cuts, different jams and what not) and served in a nice glass-covered terrace. People should be aware that to get to the hotel one must trek a steep incline, but... hey! I'm 67 and had no problems negotiating it daily. Our only problems were two groups of very noisy Japanese tourists that came in late and started at 6 AM and just couldn't care less who they disturbed with their raucous behavior and one day we arrived to breakfast to find out that they had devoured everything in sight. Still, the gentlemen of the hotel prepared a great breakfast for both of us. We did not take computers, but the owner allowed us to use his to check our e-mail. Also, no TV, but who needs it when you have Ürgup and the mountains around you? All in all, a great experience.
Room Tip: Our best room was #110, in the inner courtyard.
