“We had a magical stay in Studio Les Chevres”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2010

We were in Turkey for three weeks in October 2010. Staying in Les Maisons de Capaddoce was pure magic and much better than a hotel. Our studio, Les Chevres, had a beautiful view of Pigeon Valley and the surroundings could not be more romantic. Despite the fact that it is billed as a "studio," we were surprised at how large the apartment was. The bathroom is enormous, the bedroom has a fireplace, a seating alcove and a platform bed, and there was a separate sitting/cooking area . We loved getting the eggs, cheese, baguette and other goodies dropped off every day, and liesurely ate breakfast alone looking over the valley. We also highly recommend that you ask the owner, Jacques, to arrange for a local tour by Mustafa Yedek. He was incredibly well-informed about the sites in Cappadocia, and spoke perfect English. He was charming, funny and informative. During our time there, he became as much a friend as a tour guide. Also, don't miss the ballon ride -- you have to see Cappadocia from the air to believe it.

“Paradise on earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2010

If you want to visit de region of Cappadoce, this is the perfect choice. With a selection of different size houses ( houses where you have a housekeeper and breakfast is brought to your door every morning) you are sure to find one that meets your needs and fits your budget. The views from the different terrases and balconies are like nothing I have ever seen. The special character of each house, built in caves, makes les maisons Cappadoce a unique housing propositon. These houses have been modeled and decorated to keep the unique feel of the stone and history of the region. It is done with the best of tastes.

We had the best experience with the staff at les maisons de Cappadoce. They helped us organise our visits; if you need a personnal guide, to find a store or to plan a visit, they will assit you with unmatched professionnalism.

We had a fabulous time and would recommend this to most demanding and best travelled customer. It is truly heaven on earth with 5 star service.

“I can't imagine staying anywhere else in the area!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2010

We stayed in Studio Kaya and it was amazing. Not only charming of course, (amazingly so!!!) but you had the feeling you were not staying in a hotel but your private house, among other houses where other private people lived. The staff was more than attentive and gave us great advice on how to spend our time there, brought us breakfast in a basket and fresh bread every morning. We ate breakfast every morning on the patio watching the balloons take off and overlooking the Pigeon Valley. I think Cappadokia can get very touristy and you can put yourself in a place where all you see are other tourists. But in Uchisar, in a cave house of Les Maisons d Cappadoce, you'll feel like a local person. But one with friends. And you can walk from there to various restaurant choices or else bring food back to your own patio.
Also make you ask for Mustafa to be your guide for a hike in the Rose Valley. It was a highlight of our two weeks in Turkey. He runs the rug shop next door to Les Maisons's offices but he is maybe the one person in Turkey who will not try to sell you a rug. He's VERY knowledgeable and kind and good fun and his English is excellent.

“This place rocks!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2010

We stayed two nights, 3 adults, in a lovely, well designed, three bedroom "apartment", one of about 18 homes, Jacques, the owner, and a French architect has lovely hewn out of the side of a cliff in Uchisar. A breakfast basket was delivered each night, with fruit, yogurt, cheese, olives, jams, eggs and bisquits, and fresh bread was delivered each morning. These folks help with reservations, transportation, expert guides. Cappadoche is magical and Les Maisons is part of the magic.

“Elegant country hostelry matched only by scenery and hosts.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2009

Located in the land of fairy chimneys, Les Maisons de Cappadoce is a gracious collection of Harvard-architect remodeled homes that has become its own neighborhood. We two stayed in La Studio Forge. We arrived there after two long flights and a long layover with an hour’s drive from Kayseri, the nearest airport. We were transported with joy to be anywhere, much less in our own home. We walked in to the open yet snug living room with its fire already laid in the fireplace and French doors opening out onto a sunny balcony with an inviting table for breakfast, bright red geraniums added in the foreground and, just beyond our very own fairy chimney. The bedroom was down the hall to the right with its closet, kilims, and folk art collection. The bathroom had its share of art plus counter space and a wonderful shower with a high tiled wall for privacy. The kitchen was well stocked. Fresh makin’s for breakfast (eggs, preserves, snacks, fruits) appeared in a basket each evening and, every morning, we heard a rustle at the door when the bakery-fresh bread was hung, warm, on the door. Our hosts, Sevim and Jacques, were marvelously hospitable and full of willingness to make connections, arrange tours, recommend the best place to make purchases and nearby places to feast. The take-off point for balloon rides was so close that we could see them every morning and hear their hot air whoosh as they ascended and descended.

As we headed out for our daily adventures, we loved walking on the “neighborhood” street, past the collection of ducks and kittens at the intersection nearby and up the hill to the Uçisar town center. The town itself is one of the attractions. It has just the right number of restaurants and shops along with its own castle and quick access to the more metropolitan Ürgüp as well as roads that head to every historic, scenic valley, town, and underground city.

Les Maisons de Cappadoce was one of the most comfortable, well-placed, elegantly designed, and artful B&Bs in which we have ever stayed—and that is going some.
