“Great way to experience a Cave hotel”

I have never stayed in a hostel or pension before so when I saw the pictures of Travellers Cave Pension and the prices of the rooms, even those with private bathrooms, I thought it was pretty fantastic. My husband & I stayed in a large cave room with my parents. It took me quite a while to warm up to the room (basically, it smelt musty, bathroom was extremely basic and did not look very clean, carpets also did not seem clean, there were black marks on the walls, it was dark and there was a tiny window near the top that you couldn't reach (therefore could not close). But then I thought to myself, I am paying around £10 per person for this room and it's a REAL experience in a cave, so what did I expect? So I grew to love the place, slept well at night, still couldn't get used to the bathroom but learned to live with it. The people who work there are terrific and the tours they offer are cheap. The best value of all is the hot air balloon ride. I don't think you could get a cheaper price anywhere else. The Pension also warned of a scam that often happens to visitors travelling to Goreme on bus. We were extremely grateful for the warning because it happened to us. Breakfast was fantastic, better than many 4 star hotels I've eaten at. Views from breakfast room/balcony were also excellent. There are many cats at the pension though so if you don't like cats I wouldn't stay there. For the price and the experience, I would definitely recommend it!

My boyfriend and I stayed in Goreme for one week last June and it was totally amazing! On our second night we moved into the cutest room with the best view and not to mention the comfiest bed we have been in in months. The brothers and younger cousins were taking care of the place and were very knowledgable and had great reccommendations. The cats/kittens were adorable, and the boys were actually really nice to them! We picked a different delicious breakfast every morning before we headed out for the day. One of the fellas from the place even gave us a lift out of town to our hiking spot , when he saw us walking down the road. So nice! This place will forever be in my dreams! ........on the third day Michel Jackson died

“Find a better place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 March 2010

We stayed for 2 nights in this cave room. The bathroom was disgusting; it is always wet and smelly and there is no ventilation. The centrally controlled heating panel only switched on at very late evening and it served no function at all in heating up the cave room. The floor carpet is so wet that you have to put on your shoes or slippers all the time. There is no housekeeping in between stay.
The reception/ cafeteria is another nightmare. It is home to a few cats which can jump up to your tables while you are having meal and there are cat fur all over the place. The food - if you have other choice please have your meal else where.

“Very charming experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2009

We have enjoyed our short stay in this pension. We loved the experiance of staying in cave rooms. Great value, friendly and helpful staff. We wouldn't recommend it for a longer stay, but it's great for 1-3 nights while exploring amazing Cappadocia.

“Lovely cave rooms and great deals on tours”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2009

My stint in Capadoccia was the best part of my Turkey experience and Traveller's cave pension only made it better. The pension, unlike the hotel is located much closer to the Goreme town center and its not that much of a steep climb. They picked us up from the bus stn and dropped us back when we were leaving.

I was worried about dampness and claustrophobia in the cave rooms but had no such trouble. Our room was spacious, clean and well heated. Only the bathroom was rather tiny - but still clean.

The guys who run that place were extremely helpful - especially Ali who was always looking to make things more comfortable. They even have some of the best tour rates on offer - especially their hot air balloon ride which was the cheapest. Their cafe/restaurant had a fabulous view and good food!
