Me and my friend stayed in Traveller’s Cave Pension in Goreme for three days and we enjoyed it. Maybe rooms are not luxurious (only two beds and one small table) and shared bathroom is not perfect but sleeping in a cave is an amazing experience and we had all facilities we needed (wifi included). Goreme is a perfect place to explore Cappadocia and pension is located close to city centre and view point. Staff was very friendly, helpful and they had good prices for tours (we took only balloon tour cause we prefer to sightseeing alone). Relation between price and value is excellent. You can really feel the spirit of Cappadocia there.
The Travellers Cave Hotel, is in many ways a delightful place to stay, with beautiful rooms, heated, by both raidators and real fires. Marble bathrooms, endless ,hot water, spotless clean. Views of Goreme to die for.
So what lets it down, lack of organisation ------------most rourist arrive into the area by bus, most of which tend to be over night, thus one arives early 6/7 am. To arrive at ones hotel ,and find one is unable to access their room, does not cerate a good impression, and then waiting an hour or sor for the offer of a drink breakfast is not ready before 8 am. We witnessed an early departing guest being told that they could not have a cup of tea, as it breakfast wasn't ready! But breakfast was good however.
The menu for diiner was limited , one veggie option ! not good The food however was good, and fresh.
The staff also need to learn to smile, and ask ifthey can be of any help----------------the place offers a number of tirps on their website, but supply no imformation. A good thing that the town has a number of tour operators, whoare charming and helpful.
I have never stayed in a hostel or pension before so when I saw the pictures of Travellers Cave Pension and the prices of the rooms, even those with private bathrooms, I thought it was pretty fantastic. My husband & I stayed in a large cave room with my parents. It took me quite a while to warm up to the room (basically, it smelt musty, bathroom was extremely basic and did not look very clean, carpets also did not seem clean, there were black marks on the walls, it was dark and there was a tiny window near the top that you couldn't reach (therefore could not close). But then I thought to myself, I am paying around £10 per person for this room and it's a REAL experience in a cave, so what did I expect? So I grew to love the place, slept well at night, still couldn't get used to the bathroom but learned to live with it. The people who work there are terrific and the tours they offer are cheap. The best value of all is the hot air balloon ride. I don't think you could get a cheaper price anywhere else. The Pension also warned of a scam that often happens to visitors travelling to Goreme on bus. We were extremely grateful for the warning because it happened to us. Breakfast was fantastic, better than many 4 star hotels I've eaten at. Views from breakfast room/balcony were also excellent. There are many cats at the pension though so if you don't like cats I wouldn't stay there. For the price and the experience, I would definitely recommend it!
My boyfriend and I stayed in Goreme for one week last June and it was totally amazing! On our second night we moved into the cutest room with the best view and not to mention the comfiest bed we have been in in months. The brothers and younger cousins were taking care of the place and were very knowledgable and had great reccommendations. The cats/kittens were adorable, and the boys were actually really nice to them! We picked a different delicious breakfast every morning before we headed out for the day. One of the fellas from the place even gave us a lift out of town to our hiking spot , when he saw us walking down the road. So nice! This place will forever be in my dreams! ........on the third day Michel Jackson died
