Kelebek is a beautiful cave hotel located in the gorgeous Cappadocian town of Goreme. The rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated. Breakfast is included and a wonderful spread of yummy foods is laid out each morning. The outside dining area offers wonderful views over the Cappadocian landscape so you can sit back, relax and enjoy your dining experience. We also enjoyed dinner at the hotel and the food was very reasonably priced and of a very high standard. The staff were friendly and welcoming and only too willing to help with any and all enquiries. We organised day tours through the hotel which were extremely well run and which we thoroughly enjoyed. To sum it all up, we had a wonderful and relaxing time staying at the Kelebek and recommend it highly to all travellers.

Kelebek is a romantic boutique “cave hotel” etched into a hilltop in the village of Goreme, overlooking the surreal landscape of Cappadocia. While located in a remote village, the hotel has all the amenities you could ask for – including wifi, hot water, functional in-room fireplaces, and its own Turkish bath and spa. The hotel also offers several tour packages typical of the area, including a tour of ancient cave churches and underground cities (recommended) and hot air balloon rides (our was cancelled due to weather). The Turkish bath and spa is a great way to relax after a day of touring. The hotel serves breakfast in its own restaurant in the lobby, and also operates an excellent restaurant next door that serves dinner (try the Hunkar Begendi, a delicious dish featuring lamb morsels served over a creamy eggplant puree). The only caveat we’d offer about Kelebek is that it would not be ideal for those with disabilities or difficulty climbing stairs, since the hotel is built into the side of a hill and it is necessary to climb stone stairs to go to the rooms and to the lobby. All in all, we had a great time at Kelebek and would strongly recommend it for travelers to Cappadocia.

It would be among the best options in Goreme and hence the prices a bit higher than the rest in this town. It is one of the few hotels in Goreme which has genuine cave rooms. We stayed in room number 11 - it is a particularly small room, but hey, in Goreme, you don't want to spend much time inside your room. The hotel is located at an elevation - hence provides a good view, but it is a bit of an uphill walk and a few minutes away from the town center where most of the other hotels are located. The breakfast is awesome - the best we had in Turkey and the staff was very helpful. The owners also have their travel agency - which can be helpful if you have to book hotels or transport for your onward journey. They also organise all the tours in Cappadocia - but they definitely aren't the cheapest options. Bargian at the town center and you will get a discount for the balloon ride - something you won't get at the hotel at all. Their tour of the seminary and the underground city was also quite good! The swimming pool didn't have hot water when we visited in March 2011.

The Kelebek is a great example of the right mix of informality and comfort - the cave bedrooms are done up to the highest standard with good taste. There is a nice relaxed feeling in the dining area. Other guests seemed civilized. The adjoining Heritage Travel office are most helpful.
Good views over the town - I imagine in Springtime, Kelebek would be perfect !
