In Sep 2011, I moved to the Blue Moon Motel after staying at Caravanserai Hotel, which is less than 10 minutes walk away (Goreme is a small place, after all).
For half the price, Blue Moon Hotel offered the same amenities as Caravanserai Hotel, and is in a better location, closer to the Open Air Museum, the Post Office (PTT), taxi stand and "dolmus"(public bus) stop.
Despite its central location, the motel is quiet, so I enjoyed a sound sleep at night.
The terrace is a perfect vantage point for the balloons rising among the rocky pinnacles every morning from 6:30AM to 7:30AM, perhaps even as late as 8:00AM.
Every day I noticed the owner working very hard from early morning to late at night, so in my opinion he deserves to have a successful business (and this is an independent opinion, he didn't put me up to it :)).
Perhaps because I was a lone traveler, he graciously invited me to dinner; also, he kindly allowed me to use his laptop to connect to the Internet.
His staff is equally hard-working and polite, and this is reflected by the clean premises, plentiful breakfast, polite service and warm hospitality.
I was able to go on a spontaneous day trip to Ihlara Valley with a tour group by giving only 30 minutes notice, due to the efficiency of the Blue Moon Motel owner, who promptly made all arrangements for me to be picked up and go on that trip.
Everything considered, Blue Moon Motel offers great value accommodation in Goreme and I warmly recommend it.
I'll add photos as soon as I can.
