Ever since we booked this hotel(which was well in advance since we were travelling with a 22 month old), there were a number of emails from the hotel asking us to book the hotair balloon in advance! We weren't really sure about it because of the baby. We had also asked the hotel to book a transfer to the hotel from Nevsehir airport - which failed to arrive & we were left stranded at the airport which incidentally is in the middle of no-where & transport is dominated by dodgy taxi drivers trying to fleece you! After frantic calls to the hotel, the transfer was finally organised. The hotel is not in Nevsehir as advertised, but at least half an hours drive away in a lovely village called Cavusim - an idyllic location, if you have transport.
The hotel itself is very quaint with a lovely terrace garden & great views of the caves right opposite it. The room that we were given was not a real "cave" room - but a more recent construction - but it was nice & spacious with a good sized bathroom & modern shower - though the amenities were sparse. The location is very nice & quiet - away from the hustle & bustle. The caves opposite & the Rose valley are right there if you'd like to explore - it's on the map for most tours who'd bring you here anyways if you weren't staying in Cavusim.
Breakfast was adequate on the first morning, and rather reduced on the 2nd morning when there were a lot more guests - a lack of consistency. But I will be grateful to Halim & his wife who let me use their kitchen to boil pasta for my daughter.
The thing that marred our trip there was the enormous amount of pressure to take a hot air balloon ride, take additional excursions & guided trips & whirling dervishes shows, visit to the (expensive) Pottery centre - I suppose it was about making that extra bit of cash from you. All these things you can do on your own at your own pace and at no special price, so we were a bit turned off by the additional pressure, even though it might have been all well - intentioned! An example was - on arrival when we asked where we could grab some lunch, they said they would have something whipped up for us (we were not told the price) & in the end it turned out to be a very expensive lunch.
A quick tip - if you do end up staying at this hotel, go down the road to Lale cafe for your meals - the lovely lady there can whip up delicious Turkish food for you at literally less than half the cost!
