i stayed at the talat in sep 2011.the staff were not very friendly compared to other places i ve stayed in turkey, the rooms were as expected very basic but you get what you pay for .Our shower head was not attached to the wall so you had to hold it in your hand and wash with the other when you put it down to get shampoo the floor got wet through, there was no point telling the owner because when he ran out of bottled water and beer he just said it will be coming tommorow not good service at all .The bedding was like 100% sand paper and bolders as pillows .We came back one night just before midnight and was told to stop laughing as others were sleeping.Mr talat owner does not like people to put there comments on trip advisor it is there for him to act on the bad points my son got a very nasty e mail when we returned home calling him a B*****D POSING as a holiday maker when it was sent from kusidasi .As not put me of turkey but not the talat.

“A Really Nice Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

I visited this Hotel again July/August time and I really enjoyed my stay, with the exception of some Guests who were obviously trying to make life difficult, not alone for the Staff but other guests also in that they, i think forgot they were not fine dining or visiting their local high class hotel in their own Country.
Please note this is a family run small hotel which caters for those who cannot afford the expense of a 3/4/5/ star hotel. They have a small Menu which is very reasonably priced, Their drinks are also reasonably priced.

The Pool is a small one so not for the long distance swimmer..!
They use one side of the pool, which is on a raised area for dining purposes in the early morning for a simple but adequate turkish Style breakfast and in the evening for those who wish to eat/socialise etc.
You Can go half board to include evening meal, which i did not avail of, but I was offered "Tastes" which were lovely.

On the other side of the Pool, at Ground Level -which incorporates the Main Entrance into the hotel , you will find an area for Sunloungers and ALSO a Covered/Shaded Area which has about four tables with four chairs to each..You can move furniture to suit yourself too if you are getting too hot.

From here you can enter the Reception area which has ample seating and tables.

The Manager stays up all night, waiting for guests to arrive, and to let guests back into the hotel at night time.

The Room I stayed in was more than adequate in size with a shower room which was also adequate..not too small not too large. Plenty of closet space and a small balcony.

Cleaning was done regularly by the staff who are also student family members. If i needed extras done all i had to do was ask which was not very often I must Say. The Bed was very Comfortable and the Sheets were 100% Cotton, so lovely and cool..! If you felt cold, there was a heavy blanket in the Closet.

It is a downhill walk to the Main Town Centre and the action packed night life. Through a very nice Turkish Area. Get a Taxi home though at night time which will cost you about 10 turkish lira after 12.00 a.m. - €5.00 - during day time hours you will pay about 7/8 Lira.

There is a local Supermarket should you need toileteries etc.. though, if you are buying water/food etc..You will be told to eat/drink and keep these in your room..which is understandable.. I suppose if you were in a hotel /restaurant at home you would not be bringing your own food/drink in to have there..so makes sense.

Car hire is very cheap @ around €30.00 for the Day..I did not book trips through the Agency as i found by going direct say to Pidgeon island for my boat trip it was much cheaper. I went on the Evrim Boat which is a small one but the owner knows his stuff and i felt very safe. had a lovely lunch included, was cheaper than a day on the beach and a better tan the next day too..!!

All in all I had a great time and I am looking forward to going back again next year all going well.

Meanwhile if you book the Talat, relax and enjoy...

“Anywhere but the talat!!?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011 via mobile

I stayed at the talat hotel for 2 weeks in september. On arrival at the hotel instead of being greated with a welcome smile, we had a grumpy man demanting passports, which was a great start to our 2 weeks. We put this welcome down to the early morning arrival (5:00AM), but he or any of his staff Never seemed to cheer up. Instead of the rooms being cleaned every day like stated it was a more like once a week, beds were not made properly and we had to actually ask to have it cleaned which they didn't seem happy about. The bed sheets were like sand paper and the pillows were hard as rock. The breakfast was traditonal turkish but didnt live up to expectations. No shaded area to eat in (no parasols at all) or area for sunbeds and silence at 12 o'clock, which is more like a camp than a holiday. The hotel was an overall dissapointment and was genuanly embarrassed to tell local people were i was staying. Would NOT recommend this hotel as it is also a dangerous place to be, a family member fell down the marble stairs because of no wet floor sign and the staff didn't even apologise. OVERALL: kusadasi is a great place but would never stay at the Talat Hotel.

“very nice, but dont expect luxury.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

i took a solo trip here with the last of my leave just to unwind. i'd been to turkey before but not this far north. as a 2* i didnt expect too much, but the room itself was nicer that i thought it would be.
i had a twin which was spacious enough with good closet space. my balcony didnt face the sea, but the town & mountains, and so i got to see the sunrise every morning.
did have a little problem with the bathroom, or should i say shower room, no bath. this was en suite, but more a corridor that room. on opening the door the room was barely a foot wider than the doorframe. me being a tad portly, it was a squeeze getting in as the washbasin was right up against the door, which didnt open fully and had a huge door knob. similaly the toilet, though the space for the shower was very roomy and unlike an earlier review, i didnt have any problems with the water temp or pressure.
the people running the hotel were very friendly and helpful without being obtrusive. breakfast, turkish style does get a little boring very quickly, i found. but when asked they would provide cereal and toast to order.
the hotel is well positiones re the town and shops/markets roundabout. all be it not for those with walking difficulties due to the legendary hill. this can be a bit of a chore, but the taxi's are chear and there are the dolmuses. from around the harbour the No.10 took you to the top of the hill behind the hotel on the main road about 100yrds away from the hotels entrance.
kusadasi itself is very vibrant and bigger than i expected. there is a large bay, a big old town and sprawling new town with a multitude of bars and restaurants to suit all pockets, though turkey does offer fantastic vfm anyway. the small beaches in the town were cosy, but the bigger beaches, ladies and kusur were either side about a ten minute dolmus ride. being high season, ladies was packed, but kusur still had a lot of space, though fewer fascilities.
overall, i really enjoyed my trip and would return. particulaly as i didnt get to do a quarter of the things i did plan to do due to the heat. if this causes you probs, then august may not be the time for you. there is a lot to do and a lot of history roundabout which i didnt miss out on having been before, and it would be a shame to miss out on some of the amazing sites this place has to offer, ephesus, and my favourite pammukale.
this is the site of an ancient town, necropolis and amphitheatre. its also were the famous natural springs emerge and due to the calcium carbonate, coated the hillside with a type of chalk, the name means cotton cloud.
there is also a baths were the water emerges were you can swim and drink the water from handpumps, the minerals in it being efficacious, spa stlye. when swimming its like doing so in hot perrier, fantastic.

“Cheap and Cheerful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

If you are looking for a luxury stay then this hotel is not for you! However, if you want a clean, comfortable and excellent value for money hotel that you only intend to eat and sleep at/use as a base for other activities, this could be ideal. Very cheap B&B and there is also the option to go half board (again cheap). We would not recommend this to anyone who likes a hotel based holiday, spending a lot of time relaxing around the pool.

Food - Breakfast consists of boiled eggs, cucumber, tomato, olives, bread, feta cheese and jams. Breakfast is served between 8.30 am and 10.00 am. Dinner is a fixed 3 course menu each day consisting of soup to start, a fixed but varied main course, and melon for dessert. Dinner is served between 7.30 pm and 9.00 pm - however, we would recommend being ready to eat at 7.30 if you want a hot meal! All of the food is nice but basic and offers a value for money option. BEWARE: If you have a night flight, e.g. arrive in the early hours of Tuesday morning but you departed the UK on Monday, you will miss Monday's meal and they will not provide it only the following Monday as you have technically checked out of the hotel, despite not being collected for your return home until late on Monday night. So you'll pay for 7 meals but will only receive 6.

Pool/Terrace - The pool is small - it would be better described as a plunge pool - it's about the size you would expect of a 'second' kid's pool - however, not suitable for children who can't swim as its 1.60 m deep. There are two small terraces on two sides of the pool - one is used for meals, so full of tables and chairs. The other has space for sun loungers - you put them up yourself - however, it's not my idea of lounging around the pool. It's too small and guests are on top of each other. It's also at road level in a busy residential area - the gate into the hotel is located on the terrace you would probably use to lounge. The hotel was fully booked while we were there and the common spaces are not big enough for the number of guests - hence, great for people who only sleep in their hotel and don't want to spend time in it.

Rooms - If you are a couple, it would appear that most rooms are twin - they were not able to provide us with a double room. However, we later found out that there were guests who were travelling alone in double rooms! However, the room was large with a wardrobe (ample hangers), a dressing table, stool and bedside table with cupboard. It also had a large balcony with table and chairs - we did spend some time here playing cards, reading etc as it was quieter than the terraces. The bathroom was laid out more like a UK wet room - the shower was almost on top of the toilet - handy if you want to sit down whilst using the shower!!! As you might expect the water pressure was erratic, so the shower temperature varied as you used it. Do not be fooled - this is fluctuating cold water supply - hot water is solar heated, extremely hot and doesn't run out. Just be careful, so you don't get burnt. There is little storage in the bathroom and even if there was - your things would get wet, so keep it in your room.

Housekeeping - Although, the room is swept each day, the shower room is not cleaned on a daily basis (which in a very dusty climate is kind of essential). Toilet rolls, towels and linen are replaced approximately every three days - we had a night flight, so this meant it only happened once as the second time they would have been due to change, it was time to check out. However, if you ask, they will send clean things up - it just doesn't happen automatically.

Extras - This is Turkey, if you are not paying high prices for a five star hotel with everything inclusive, you won't get anything included. This is not unique to this hotel, 'it's the Turkish way'. So expect to pay extra for air conditioning (£15 a week) and a safe (£10 a week). Also, even if you do pay for air conditioning, you cannot leave it running while you are out - it is operated by you electricity key card - so you cannot return to a cool room.

Location - This is a very centrally located hotel for the area of Kusadasi. It is easy to get around using the local buses (Dolmus) and/or taxis. Both represent good value for money. However, if you do use a taxi, make sure they put on the meter or you'll end up paying double. If you have any mobility problems and/or young children, you should be aware that this hotel is on top of a very steep hill - the road/path surfaces are not great - typically marble or skimmed concrete with lots of pot holes. It is safe to walk but go easy as it can be slippery especially on the hills, even in the dry. It takes about 5 minutes to walk down the hill and less than 10 to get to the beginning of the pedestrian centre. We would recommend a walk into town and then a taxi back (but only from the bottom of the hill - this costs 5 lira - which was about £1.60 when we were there).

Town - There are plenty of places to eat, drink and relax. Lots of shopping opportunities selling the usual tourist wares. On Sunday evenings there is an arts and craft market - which offered very different items from the usual tourist shops. There is a huge market on Wednesday with literally thousands of sellers - a good opportunity to bag a bargain.

Beaches - All the reps recommend 'Ladies Beach' and ten years ago, I would have too. However, it's now a dive - very dirty and over crowded. The hotel owners recommended using the beach at the National Park (Millipark). We went to the bus station (next to the market) and got a dolmus - it took approximately 1 hour and cost 7 lira each (about £2.50) and again to return. It costs 4 lira to get into the national park. The beach was very quiet (mainly frequented by locals), much cleaner and set in a stunning woodland edged location. There was a small restaurant selling cheap lunch and snack foods and drinks plus ice creams. There are toilet facilities - free if you use the restaurant or 1 lira per use. Also, beachside showers and changing rooms - also free. It cost 20 lira to hire two sun beds, a table and parasol for the day - however, as the beach isn't crowded you can sit out on a towel if you prefer. Many locals took their own loungers and parasols. If you want something a little nearer, Long Beach is also very nice – as the name suggests it’s a long beach, approximately 7 km’s – the further away from Kusadasi you go, the cleaner, quieter and nicer it is. Again, sun beds and parasols are available for hire but prices vary along the beach.
