If you are looking for a luxury stay then this hotel is not for you! However, if you want a clean, comfortable and excellent value for money hotel that you only intend to eat and sleep at/use as a base for other activities, this could be ideal. Very cheap B&B and there is also the option to go half board (again cheap). We would not recommend this to anyone who likes a hotel based holiday, spending a lot of time relaxing around the pool.
Food - Breakfast consists of boiled eggs, cucumber, tomato, olives, bread, feta cheese and jams. Breakfast is served between 8.30 am and 10.00 am. Dinner is a fixed 3 course menu each day consisting of soup to start, a fixed but varied main course, and melon for dessert. Dinner is served between 7.30 pm and 9.00 pm - however, we would recommend being ready to eat at 7.30 if you want a hot meal! All of the food is nice but basic and offers a value for money option. BEWARE: If you have a night flight, e.g. arrive in the early hours of Tuesday morning but you departed the UK on Monday, you will miss Monday's meal and they will not provide it only the following Monday as you have technically checked out of the hotel, despite not being collected for your return home until late on Monday night. So you'll pay for 7 meals but will only receive 6.
Pool/Terrace - The pool is small - it would be better described as a plunge pool - it's about the size you would expect of a 'second' kid's pool - however, not suitable for children who can't swim as its 1.60 m deep. There are two small terraces on two sides of the pool - one is used for meals, so full of tables and chairs. The other has space for sun loungers - you put them up yourself - however, it's not my idea of lounging around the pool. It's too small and guests are on top of each other. It's also at road level in a busy residential area - the gate into the hotel is located on the terrace you would probably use to lounge. The hotel was fully booked while we were there and the common spaces are not big enough for the number of guests - hence, great for people who only sleep in their hotel and don't want to spend time in it.
Rooms - If you are a couple, it would appear that most rooms are twin - they were not able to provide us with a double room. However, we later found out that there were guests who were travelling alone in double rooms! However, the room was large with a wardrobe (ample hangers), a dressing table, stool and bedside table with cupboard. It also had a large balcony with table and chairs - we did spend some time here playing cards, reading etc as it was quieter than the terraces. The bathroom was laid out more like a UK wet room - the shower was almost on top of the toilet - handy if you want to sit down whilst using the shower!!! As you might expect the water pressure was erratic, so the shower temperature varied as you used it. Do not be fooled - this is fluctuating cold water supply - hot water is solar heated, extremely hot and doesn't run out. Just be careful, so you don't get burnt. There is little storage in the bathroom and even if there was - your things would get wet, so keep it in your room.
Housekeeping - Although, the room is swept each day, the shower room is not cleaned on a daily basis (which in a very dusty climate is kind of essential). Toilet rolls, towels and linen are replaced approximately every three days - we had a night flight, so this meant it only happened once as the second time they would have been due to change, it was time to check out. However, if you ask, they will send clean things up - it just doesn't happen automatically.
Extras - This is Turkey, if you are not paying high prices for a five star hotel with everything inclusive, you won't get anything included. This is not unique to this hotel, 'it's the Turkish way'. So expect to pay extra for air conditioning (£15 a week) and a safe (£10 a week). Also, even if you do pay for air conditioning, you cannot leave it running while you are out - it is operated by you electricity key card - so you cannot return to a cool room.
Location - This is a very centrally located hotel for the area of Kusadasi. It is easy to get around using the local buses (Dolmus) and/or taxis. Both represent good value for money. However, if you do use a taxi, make sure they put on the meter or you'll end up paying double. If you have any mobility problems and/or young children, you should be aware that this hotel is on top of a very steep hill - the road/path surfaces are not great - typically marble or skimmed concrete with lots of pot holes. It is safe to walk but go easy as it can be slippery especially on the hills, even in the dry. It takes about 5 minutes to walk down the hill and less than 10 to get to the beginning of the pedestrian centre. We would recommend a walk into town and then a taxi back (but only from the bottom of the hill - this costs 5 lira - which was about £1.60 when we were there).
Town - There are plenty of places to eat, drink and relax. Lots of shopping opportunities selling the usual tourist wares. On Sunday evenings there is an arts and craft market - which offered very different items from the usual tourist shops. There is a huge market on Wednesday with literally thousands of sellers - a good opportunity to bag a bargain.
Beaches - All the reps recommend 'Ladies Beach' and ten years ago, I would have too. However, it's now a dive - very dirty and over crowded. The hotel owners recommended using the beach at the National Park (Millipark). We went to the bus station (next to the market) and got a dolmus - it took approximately 1 hour and cost 7 lira each (about £2.50) and again to return. It costs 4 lira to get into the national park. The beach was very quiet (mainly frequented by locals), much cleaner and set in a stunning woodland edged location. There was a small restaurant selling cheap lunch and snack foods and drinks plus ice creams. There are toilet facilities - free if you use the restaurant or 1 lira per use. Also, beachside showers and changing rooms - also free. It cost 20 lira to hire two sun beds, a table and parasol for the day - however, as the beach isn't crowded you can sit out on a towel if you prefer. Many locals took their own loungers and parasols. If you want something a little nearer, Long Beach is also very nice – as the name suggests it’s a long beach, approximately 7 km’s – the further away from Kusadasi you go, the cleaner, quieter and nicer it is. Again, sun beds and parasols are available for hire but prices vary along the beach.
