Our party made up of 6 adults and 2 children stayed at the Tusan Beach on the last week of October.
On approach I was a bit apprehensive as the hotel has the appearance of a large imposing concrete block, the only redeeming feature being that it was in a bay area, right on a small sandy beach. On entering the reception area though, I started to feel a bit more at ease as you could tell instantly that it was spotlessly clean.
Our check in was very quick and easy and the reception staff were very helpful. We were given rooms on the 2nd floor and were shown to them by the porters who helped with our bags.
On entering the rooms we were pleasantly surprised as they were spotlessly clean and spacious with fantastic views of the pool and sea. The only gripe for me was the size of the bathroom (room 2206) which for 2 adults and 2 children was on the small side but the rest of our party in the rooms next door (2207 and 2211) had loads of space in theirs.
For those who are'nt aware a star rating is awarded to a hotel for the amount of facilities a hotel provides and not on whether the crockery in the dining room is chipped, so yes, while some of the decor could do with some replacement and maintainance, the facilities provided in the height of the season are excellent, with choices of restaurants, 2 pools, watersports, kids entertainment, spa facilities, free transport into town, own beach etc.
Being the end of season and weather starting to cool down we found the pools on the chilly side, but the sea was right on the doorstep and is shallow enough for the kids to play without worrying too much about them getting out of depth.
Staff were really friendly and helpful throughout our stay and made the kids feel really special (Especially Vefa who my kids thought was the bees knees) and they work such long hours and still have a smile on their faces.
We only had one problem with one of the staff who told me that we had to pay for drinks at the lobby bar but a word with reception soon sorted that out, and we never encountered the German/ English thing.
The kids and evening entertainment was good but if you want some sleep before 12 ask for a room at the back of the hotel or in block 2 because it can be quite loud.
You can catch a dolmus into Kusadasi just at the end of the drive (Ladies the market is on Wednesdays and Fridays), big bargains on bags, wallets, belts etc.
Overall I would recommend this hotel if you can see past the few faults you should be able to spend an enjoyable week or two here.
