We took a 14 days tour of Turkey in Feb 2007 through Cosmos. Kusadasi was one of the loveliest cities we visited during the tour. Our group of 45 people from different countries was booked at Grand Onder Hotel which was located across the harbour.
Everybody was accommodated in the rooms in accordance with his / her requirements (single or double). Me and my husband were put up in a room which had a fantastic view of harbour and a tiny island in the distance. We later came to know that on this island Kusadasi Fortress was located.
Grand Onder is a large and there were several groups staying at this hotel during our stay. Some of our tour mates upgraded to suites instead of double rooms due to heavy occupancy but all they got to see from their balconies were buildings surrounding the hotel.
We stayed there for two nights which were quite memorable. The hotel is well located in the best suburban of the town and provided an easy access to restaurants and several stores on waling distance down the steep slope. For city centre, a little walk away there were mini buses plying, charging nominal fairs. You may not be able to get a taxi outside this hotel as due to the steep slop, the taxi drivers remain to the main roads down the hill.
The hotel staff was quite helpful though the hotel is decadent and some revamping could prove to be magical for this hotel. Breakfast and Dinner was included in the package which was delicious and elaborate. We once had a-la-carte lunch in the coffee house which was upto the standard.
The down side is that the entrance of the hotel is on the back street and not on the main road. There's no visible sign on the entrance and one can easily pass it unnoticed if you haven't been to this place before.
I would still recommend this four star hotel.
