This is an absolutely fantastic B&B and I haven't even had breakfast yet! The house is amazing! The owners completely renovated the house in 1998 but the house has quite a history which the owners will share with their guests. Since it is during the week , my friend and I had our choice of rooms. I am staying in the Mary Elizabeth room which has a king bed, walk in shower, whirlpool tub, tv and mini fridge. Dinner out was at Randy's Up the River which suited us perfectly; however there are several other dining establishments in town. After dinner, you can sit on the porch and relax or hit the hot tub which we did!

Joan, our host was very helpful with directions and local attractions. The co-owner, her daughter, promptly delivered ice and a bucket for my friend's wine. Great service and a great stay!

If you are traveling through the area, this is a must stay location!

Gallets B&B is about 4 miles from the town of Olean, New York.
It is on a quiet country road in a pretty rural valley on a working farm. They were harvesting corn while we were there.

The owner, Joan, is a nice, friendly , energetic, woman who was always very helpful. She cooks a good breakfast.

I loved the hilly countryside. While we were there in mid October many of the trees had fall color.

Our room was very large with a modern bathroom.

My only complaint was the house had too much stuff ( furniture, collectables, history items). This seems to be standard with Victorian era b&b's.

We had a nice dinner in the Old Library in Olean.

The building and the outdoor sceneray are really lovely. We stayed in the carriage house and were delighted with the country decor. My only complaint is that the unit smelled bad. There was a can of Febreze on the counter, so they apparently knew that, but I really couldn't get past the mildewy smell and I wouldn't stay in that unit again. The proprietor was extremely friendly and everything else was to my liking.

If you are looking for a relaxing place to get away from it all, try the Gallets House. Our room was decorated with period pieces and nothing was spared for the guests convenience. We enjoyed a 2 person jacuzzi tub, stand up shower, king size bed, several large windows, a small refridgerator stocked with bottled water and a bottle of sparkling grape juice. All the modern conveniences were offered too: blow dryer, a/c, tv, vcr, cd, iron...You were able to just enjoy the home, or stroll the property, sit on the front porch, or get relax in your large room. The breakfast was equal to any 5 star hotel and was presented extremely well. We enjoyed the friendly hostess and her documentation of the inn and its history as well...Lots to do nearby: golf, skiing, antiques, parks, St. Boniventure, casino at Salamanca and shopping in Ellicotteville.
