We saved at least $110 by driving a bit to this antique-style B&B rather than paying top dollar in Ellicottville / Holiday Valley during peak ski season. The proprietor is pleasant and even gave us a free upgrade to a nicer room!
Our room was clean with a private bathroom and everything we needed, including corkscrew, wine glasses, coffee pot, hair dryer, and iron with ironing board.
Breakfast was nice - ham & cheese omelet, toast, cooked apple, banana bread, orange juice, and coffee.
Gallets didn't require a "two night minimum" during MLK weekend like the other ski properties closer to Holiday Valley do.
We will likely return to Gallets House.

We were aware of the fact that the inn is out in the country but when we complained of the skunk smell permeating the inside, the owner had a mental meltdown at our displeasure. she yelled at us so loudly that we had to run out of the place as quickly as we could and lost everything that we had paid. if your're looking for the bates motel, it's a must stay. otherwise, there's nicer places to stay close by.

What a fantastic house! Dates from 1896, and the family who built it apparently never threw anything away. There's oak woodwork, pocket doors, gorgeous furniture, period wallpaper, a proper sitting room and formal dining room, ven a museum in the attic. My room was lovely, though the TV was tiny and on a high shelf over the door and the reading light by the bed was insufficient. There's a guest lounge in the basement, with microwave and fridge for guest use, which is convenient as the place serves only breakfast (which, though ample and varied beyond greed---two different juices, toast, a hot dish, fruit, homemade pastries...though I didn't see any...was not very well cooked: dry quiche, leathery omelet). Hosts were quite friendly and approachable, but I was traveling alone and didn't get as much personal attention as older guest couples did: and when I did it was more as if I was there to listen to the hosts talk and not them to me. But that's a quibble: it is a lovely establishment and I did have a very pleasant stay.

This is an absolutely fantastic B&B and I haven't even had breakfast yet! The house is amazing! The owners completely renovated the house in 1998 but the house has quite a history which the owners will share with their guests. Since it is during the week , my friend and I had our choice of rooms. I am staying in the Mary Elizabeth room which has a king bed, walk in shower, whirlpool tub, tv and mini fridge. Dinner out was at Randy's Up the River which suited us perfectly; however there are several other dining establishments in town. After dinner, you can sit on the porch and relax or hit the hot tub which we did!

Joan, our host was very helpful with directions and local attractions. The co-owner, her daughter, promptly delivered ice and a bucket for my friend's wine. Great service and a great stay!

If you are traveling through the area, this is a must stay location!
