I say NO, NO, NO! big mistake in checking Trip Advisor after booking. All the comments were true. The reception staff were rude on the verge of obnoxious, felt They were doing us a favour by simply talking and answering queries. A s a single mum of 8 year old twins I am used to taking my girls on holiday but I have never met such hostile staff, my girls have been around europe, the caribbean, since 1 and a half years old. Yet this hotel had such a unfriendly environment. i had been warned about the German- Russian situation, but was not prepared that all food and information would be geared towards them. I am not a xenophobic nutter, I am dual heritage Irish Jamaican, yet all the notice boards and time changes were geared towards anyone but the english, which meant my little ones missed bkfast and dinner on the first day and dinner because the changes were in German and Russian. Pleas for a bowl of cereal'/ slice of toast were not listened to so we had to go elsewhere. My biggest bugbear; in 7 days never had a sunbed! after breakfast at 9.30 every sunbed would be taken from 7 am by the same people every day who would sit there fully dressed although there was no sun and block the beds till sunset. My daughter got into the habit of walking around mumbling"bloody Germans {sic} taking the sunbeds....! Food - if you like pickled sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, funny looking mystery meats, basically anything based towards eastern europeans, choose a different hotel. Kids pool size of a backyard paddling pool. Your kids may have to squeeze past a few lardy adults sprawling around the edges chatting in the sun while the kids squeeze to get in "their pool". not all doom and gloom - the Gunes Beach Hotel across the road has a lovely exclusive beach, however your wristbands do not give you drinks and food, but a lovely beach 5 mins away just get your own refreshments from the shop on the corner, cheap beer and water, fruit {not available in the hotel} snacks, and the place where we spent every afternoon. plus the tea and cakes at 4.30 gives a chance to fill up before you join the dinner queue! Despite all my whinges Turkey is a beautiful place, just I will not revisit this particular hotel. The rooms are spacious, bathrooms massive, but take a plug if you want a bath and there are no shower curtains! best bit - cleaning staff SO LOVELY! so friendly every day they would envelop my girls with hugs and make origami swan figures on all our beds! I think - teach the cleaning staff basic English, put them on reception because they are so good with the public, and put the arrogant miserable reception staff in cleaning duties because they are so obviously deficient in people skills. Only tips I left were for housekeeping. Forewarned is forearmed. Castle is worth a visit, bus A1 to town opposite post office then A4 -cheap but lovely views up the mountain. Just take lots of water and be prepared to pee behind trees! However, Turkey is beautiful, non hotel staff are friendly and hospitable, many beggers but coming from London more then used to it, but a place I will visit again. Good luck and happy holidays! oh, any currency is taken, but use lirars for a better deal. They push sterling and euros but better value with liras. michelle forest hill
