“You get what you pay for”

Dont believe all that you read about this place. Our first impression was that it needs a refurb but apart from that the rooms were clean, large and cool. The food was good with a great choice for all. Plenty of Salads, Pasta, Rice and Chicken and Fish dishes, fresh fruit and cakes. Water, Fruit Juice, Coffee wine Beer and Coke excetera available all day long, although the beer glass was quite small and it usually came with a large head. Coke was a little flat at times but at least it was cold. The staff aren't overly friendly but they do smile and acknowledge you and they are very busy keeping the place tidy. The grumpy receptionist didn't bother us,she was okay with us even if she didnt smile very much.
The location is excellent only a 5min stroll to the beach. Beware August is Hot Hot Hot so the sand will burn your feet. The beach is lovely with a stunning back drop of mountains all around and the peninsula jutting out with castle dominating its skyline. Its sandy by the sunbeds but quite shingly as you enter the water.Lots of laughs watching strapping blokes wade into or out of the sea only to be felled by a misplaced foot on a pebble leaving them floundering and strugglling to get back on their feet.
It is geared towards eastern europeans but we didnt mind that as thats part of going on holiday to be able to mix with other nationalities. We enjoyed it as a family and really couldnt fault it. We had plenty of sun, sand, food and drink with a cool room to get a good nights sleep after. What more do you need

Room Tip: Room 5013 large room sleeps at least 5 even if they say only 3

“Accept that this is a "Multi national hotel" and your time can be enjoyable !”

After reading previous reviews we were very concerned before arriving at this hotel.
In short you get what you pay for....
If you expect typical English breakfast and roast beef dinner then book elsewhere, this is not an 'English resort hotel'.
It is aimed at a cross section of European and eastern European holiday makers, where you can experience alternative cuisine with a Turkish twist.
There is typically a large German presence at this hotel with the typical early towels on sun bed routine.
Breakfast is served from 7.30 - 10am, and what we noticed was that if going for breakfast pre 8.30 then taking towels to place on a vacant sun bed at the same time was not a problem and some beds were still available.
I spoke with 4 English groups who ALL read the Tripavisor reviews and thought them to be rather harsh.
Taking the hotel at "face value" it is in a great location, a walk to the beach is only 75meters away, the food is acceptable, room are basic but ample size and if treated with respect staff are accommodating.
It has to be said that there are some staff that do not speak much English which can cause minor problems / mis-understandings, however one female receptionist did have non-existent communication / public relation skills, after persisting with our "please and thankyou's" she became much more amenable.
The pool area although small, was kept clean and tidy and.
Although having a children’s area, there were no pool activities for children to keep them occupied, so if you have any children purchasing lilo's or beach balls to use in the pool are the order of the day.
If you accept that you get what you pay for; that this will be a basic 3* multi cultural hotel and that foods may not what you are used to in the UK, this hotel can work out OK (it did for us - 2 adults one child @12 years) and I have traveled Europe extensively in many different rated hotels 3* to 5*.
HOWEVER .. if you want the tried and trusted "British hotel abroad" feel with a significant amount of British holiday makers and "safe" British style foods to keep kids happy then I would suggest an alternative.
On a basic budget and open minded attitude the hotel worked for us, but it will not to everyone’s tastes ……

“We loathed it and will never be back! beware and be warned -DONT GO THERE!”

I say NO, NO, NO! big mistake in checking Trip Advisor after booking. All the comments were true. The reception staff were rude on the verge of obnoxious, felt They were doing us a favour by simply talking and answering queries. A s a single mum of 8 year old twins I am used to taking my girls on holiday but I have never met such hostile staff, my girls have been around europe, the caribbean, since 1 and a half years old. Yet this hotel had such a unfriendly environment. i had been warned about the German- Russian situation, but was not prepared that all food and information would be geared towards them. I am not a xenophobic nutter, I am dual heritage Irish Jamaican, yet all the notice boards and time changes were geared towards anyone but the english, which meant my little ones missed bkfast and dinner on the first day and dinner because the changes were in German and Russian. Pleas for a bowl of cereal'/ slice of toast were not listened to so we had to go elsewhere. My biggest bugbear; in 7 days never had a sunbed! after breakfast at 9.30 every sunbed would be taken from 7 am by the same people every day who would sit there fully dressed although there was no sun and block the beds till sunset. My daughter got into the habit of walking around mumbling"bloody Germans {sic} taking the sunbeds....! Food - if you like pickled sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, funny looking mystery meats, basically anything based towards eastern europeans, choose a different hotel. Kids pool size of a backyard paddling pool. Your kids may have to squeeze past a few lardy adults sprawling around the edges chatting in the sun while the kids squeeze to get in "their pool". not all doom and gloom - the Gunes Beach Hotel across the road has a lovely exclusive beach, however your wristbands do not give you drinks and food, but a lovely beach 5 mins away just get your own refreshments from the shop on the corner, cheap beer and water, fruit {not available in the hotel} snacks, and the place where we spent every afternoon. plus the tea and cakes at 4.30 gives a chance to fill up before you join the dinner queue! Despite all my whinges Turkey is a beautiful place, just I will not revisit this particular hotel. The rooms are spacious, bathrooms massive, but take a plug if you want a bath and there are no shower curtains! best bit - cleaning staff SO LOVELY! so friendly every day they would envelop my girls with hugs and make origami swan figures on all our beds! I think - teach the cleaning staff basic English, put them on reception because they are so good with the public, and put the arrogant miserable reception staff in cleaning duties because they are so obviously deficient in people skills. Only tips I left were for housekeeping. Forewarned is forearmed. Castle is worth a visit, bus A1 to town opposite post office then A4 -cheap but lovely views up the mountain. Just take lots of water and be prepared to pee behind trees! However, Turkey is beautiful, non hotel staff are friendly and hospitable, many beggers but coming from London more then used to it, but a place I will visit again. Good luck and happy holidays! oh, any currency is taken, but use lirars for a better deal. They push sterling and euros but better value with liras. michelle forest hill
