We holidayed at Side Star Park Hotel from 1-8 Oct 2010.
We arrived at 2am and reception were efficient, we were offered food if we wanted it - which we didn't. Others have told me that this would have been a cold meat/cheese platter.
Restaurant - Excellent choice at all meals. My daughter has a mild wheat intolerance and is also a fusspot with eating, but she managed to eat more than enough at every meal, rice and chips were always available. Breakfast - cereals, breads/toast, eggs, omelette, pancakes - even brocolli one morning, although I didn't fancy it :). Lunch & dinner - always Turkish Pizza, a grilled meat & fish choice, two other meat choices (usually sauted or in a sauce), potatoes, chips, rice, pasta, vegetable , salades, cheeses, bread and then fresh fruit and a vast array of cakes and deserts. Anyone who couldn't find something they liked must be a VERY fussy eater. Although we were only there a week, we managed to experience two special nights, where all the tables are taken outside and specialities are cooked, such as kebabs and other Turkish foods. Absolutely lovely and a great evening, lovely to be able to eat outside in the warm.
Yes, the waiters do tend towards German speaking, but as 90% of the visitors are probably German, if they speak it well, why wouldn't they? Some of the waiters remembered if you were English - Nuh made a special effort to have a conversation with us in English, and he does speak it well, so maybe try to sit in his "area" - it was the second block of tables to the right while we were there.
The drinks etc are mostly help yourself, although if you are sat at the tables at the pool bar, they bring them to you. Also, the lobby bar (which is very quiet) - the waiter will bring them out to you . Its nice sitting on the balcony overlooking the pool.
We were very lucky, in that we booked a double room , but we actually got a family room. Two bedrooms, both with flatscreen tvs. The bathroom was compact but good - everywhere was immaculately clean.
We didn't really watch many of the shows at night - I think they were of the usual Euro-animation standard. I sometimes found it difficult to pick up when they were talking English in amongst the German!
This is a fabulous hotel, nicely run and quite easy going. We found that it suited us down to the ground.
If you are travelling from the Uk to this hotel then you will be going with First Choice - our rep was Chelsea. Now she is going on to Egypt now, but she really was the best rep ever and helped improve our holiday with suggestions of things to do. She was a lovely genuine girl was enthusiasm for both the resort and the hotel.
Don't missa walk into Side to watch the sunset at the Temple of Apollo - it took us 15 mins at most in the evening to walk there.
Just to clarify also - the beach bar is a short 5 min walk away, seperate to the hotel - on the beach obviously. There was a smaller snack selection at lunch, although we never ate there, and cakes in the afternoon.
Don't let the reviews dissing the Germans put you off - they are just on holiday teh same as you - and if teh English don't start going to this hotel more, they will never start catering for the English more. Go on - its a great hotel and I want to go back next year !
