Thought we would try Turkey so after a lot of searching we came up with the Side Star Park in Side has good reviews, got a good deal with Sunmaster as it was early in the season, not many flights go out First Choice start later and use this hotel, i dont know why because its a really nice time to go you take a chance with the weather , we had three days with some showers, out of the fourteen, the rest were in the low 20s maybe 24 one day but it was nice,we cant bear it to hot.
The hotel was really nice, the food was reall good fresh eggs or omlettes cooked to order( you dont get that here very often) im an ex chef so im quite paticular about clenliness and where i eat you will have no problems here, i would say this was the best all inclusive food we have had and we have been on a few!
the fresh breads, fish, fruit all good if you like puddings youll be in heaven!
we never had bad tummie's in all our stay, the beer is Effes and its very good, they use the same drink for brandy and whiskey but hey ho it tastes ok vodka was good, and the Raki take it easy on that, the wines are also good!
The bed we had was fitted with an orthapedic mattres a bit firm but ok.
The staff are very good especially three waiters Serrif , Amed whose just become a father Congratulations and Noha, they could'nt do enough for us, they love the brits if your polite you will be well looked after.the staff are great and a special thank-you to the Front Office Manager M. Gunham who was very helpful and looked after us!
the hotel has its own little beach at the end of the road, with its own resturant which is handy at lunch they have a barby with a lady making fresh flatbreads with all the other food inside a nice alternative this only opened on our second week and stays open till end of september we spent most lunchtimes here loveley veiws and food!
This is also used for the a la carte fish resturant you have to book at reception do it early in the week as it will be booked up quick a nice experience!
Give your tips directly to the waiters, and in the kitchen box for the chefs, they do a great job!
The only thing that let the hotel down was the enterainmet, but we wern't that bothered but i know some people would be, they just had no stucture, and poor guidence!
Now the resort, when we were there most were getting ready for the season it is about a 10-15 mins in to Side flat most of the way all along the sea front, where the harbour is (done a bit of fishing there no luck though) then you have the square surrounded by cafes then up a slight hill you have all your shops( be carful buying tukish delight the boxes you see only contain about 8 bits the boxes have cardboard infills and the fresh stuff they try to sell you very nice the price they tell you is for 100 grms so if you say fill the box they wiegh it and it becomes 380 grms and they ask you for more than you want to spend we got caught out so be warned and most of the stuff has no price so the first price they say you can easily get it down, didnt buy much, you will pass a shop on the way from hotel on sea front who sell 3 shirts for 10 euros.
thats the other thing euros are more widley acceptable rather than turkis lira and you can get a good rate with sterling.
If you want to go on any trips Toni Macaroni will look after you he is at the top of the road ajacent to the hotel, we went on the Maganvant river trip and market well worth it, if you want Haman turkish scrub and massage he does that to cheaper than hotel( although the one we had in hotel was very good) if you book with toni he will let you use the internet free of charge handy to check bank or football or get a bet on back home, thanks toni had the winner of national!
Also he is a good guy because we paid deposit to go to Haman on our last friday but my wife had a fall and ended up in plaser so we had to cancil no problem he gave us our money back, thanks.
If you want to watch football or any sport watched the National, go down to the Kingfisher two mins from hotel and see Memhet and Mustafa they will look after you, the kitchen was'nt open when we were there but they do food and have lots of drinks, beer was 5 T L or 2.5 e.
you must go to the top of the road and get on a dolmus a minibus that takes you to Side Kumkoy and Manavaget, and surrounding areas you will see lots of diffrent things and see the diffrent people of Turkey and its cheap 2.5 TL one way just over a pound and there fuel prices are same as here!
And lastly yes there are a lot of Germans a few Dutch we were the only Brits in the hotel but sometimes thats not a bad thing we like to keep ourselves to ourselves and went to relax so it suited us,just just go with and open mind it will make a change from Spain and im sure you will want to go back!
