Lovely modern hotel with gr8 views rooms gr8 very clean hotel disappointed with staff not as friendly as our previous holidays in bodrum but this may be as side resort more geared for German and Russian tourists . Good range of food drinks available . Charge to change ur towels tho shoppin dearer than previous visits to turkey . They accept sterling but prefer euro or lira. . Would go back ? Yes but prefer bodrum

Well where do we start? We stayed at Melas in 2008 and was amazed at the food, the hotel, the location, the staff, the service. In all everything was perfect. We booked a last minute deal for 30/10/11 to 6/11/11 again at Melas, now, normally we would not go back to the same hotel as invairiably the holidays are never as good, how wrong we were, this year was better!!!. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff some of whom we recognised from three years ago, and remarkably they remembered us too. The waiters and waitresses were as attentive as ever and the service was fantastic. The food and choices were incredible and nothing was repeated, very well presented and cooked to perfection. The rooms are imaculate and cleaned every day to a very high standard. A very nice touch on the second day the maid delivered matching bath robes to each room for our party of six.
The pools are clean and the areas tidy, the beach bars and food areas again delivering exacting standards of service and quality. This is a truly magnificent hotel in a stunning location run by very very nice people.
NOW FOR THE SAD BIT
Melas closes this week for major refurb work and we heard that sadly a lot of the staff are leaving and many are not returning. A plea to the owners and management, Please do not ruin this beautiful holiday hotel, the staff make the hotel what it is and this is obvious by the amount of people there this last week, it was full!
We understand that the hotel needs a makeover in places but it is a fantastic base for your holiday, a real gem.

We recently stopped at the Melas Hotel for a week in October. It was the first time we have been away without the children in 15 years ( they were on a cruise) and so we were looking for a nice relaxing week. The hotel was great, the rooms were fine with a nice ensuite and fridge which was stocked a free ( but only 2 beers a day). The room although nice had a dreadful view of trees which made it very dark. Ask for a sea view if I were you. The food was good, salad always fresh and nothing to give you a bad tummy. Bars great, bottled water on demand and lovely gin and tonics. Pool, as it was October no need to reserve a sunbed , which were lovely wooden steamer deck chairs. Had to swim in the indoor pool though as the outside one was very very very cold. Beach bar was brilliant and loved the pizza. There was a promenade you coulf walk into Side which was very pleasant and place to visit and shop ( though all the shops are the same).
The hotel was full of Germans and all old! But this didnt bother us at all.
If you have kids try the connected Melas Holiday Village next door - looked great.
Staff friendly, food / drink excellent - weather fanastic what else can I say. I have long been put off Turkey from a previous holiday but this has changed my mind and Side is a place I would visit again.

Positive things :
- Perfect situation at the beach, boulevard and city town of SIDE.
- Friendly personnal
- Food was good, breakfast outside was very nice.
- Big rooms
- Good evening animations/shows

Negative points :
- Lunch not outside only at beach bar
- Furniture old
- Needs a very good uplift (paint, bathroom,....)

Closes from Nov 2011 - Apr 2012 to do a rebuild....this will fix all the negative points we hope.
