“Best turkey holiday yet!”

We stayed at the kentia in the first week of september, so was getting quiet. We had a fantastic time. Staff were friendly, chatty and made sure you had a good time and made you welcome.
Rooms were cleaned and spotless everyday. Agree with other reviews that the kitchen amenities are basic, we didnt use them, only the kettle! We ate at the hotel restaurant everyday for breakfast and dinner, the food was always nice, hot and quite cheap. Their themed buffet nights were really nice and would reccommend them. I also reccommed the kebabs they cook up at lunch time, really nice!

Our room was in D block which was out the way, which was nice as the music did get loud. We didnt think much of the entertainment, or lack of it! The music was too loud and was on all day from 10am til late, would have been nice for a little peace, now and then.
We managed to get sunbeds by the pool every day, we got to the pool by 10 and beds were available, although by 12 they were all gone, but at that time its expected. The pool is nice and clean, as is the rest of the apartments.
The apartments was too out of the way for my liking from all the shops bars etc. i went with my mum (61) who cant walk for long distances, so we mainly travelled my dolmus or taxi, which is cheap.
We did a few excursions, a boat trip that we booked at side harbour, and one with the rep to visit the ampitheatre/waterfall. would recommend both!
We also made a few trips in the evening to side, shopping and visit the old ruins. The shopping was great, I've never haggled before and enjoyed it, came away with a few bargins! We mainly went to side on the evenings as was too hot to walk around in crowds during the day. We felt safe walking around on the evening.
The onsite shop is reasonable, the owner was friendly and did smile! If you walk out the kentia staight up the road there is another little shop, much cheaper, however the owner wouldnt leave my mum alone, kissing her on the cheek numerous times, however apparantly thats normal for older turkish men to do this to older women. However my mum didnt mind!

Only bad points was, there was no lift or porter and when your on the top floor carrying suitcases- not good, and dont ask for room service- it doesnt arrive!

Overall a great holiday, have stayed in a 5* AI in Marmaris and much prefer the Kentia. We will be returning.

Room Tip: ask for a room in block D if you want a quiet room

“Excellent apartments”

We stayed at the Kentia for the last two weeks in October and had a great time. Staff were friendly and room was cleaned to perfection by the cleaning staff. I would agree the two ring cooker and kettle was a bit difficult to use for self catering and due to this we only ever used it to heat up soup. Eating out was cheap enough and sadly we only found the "Flying Horse" restaurant two nights before we headed home, the food here was delicious and cheap and the Karaoke by Billy was superb! We also enjoyed eating at the Ugur. All in all this was a great place to stay and we will definately be going back!

Room Tip: Block D is away from music, however, the kids play area was right below our window and could get a b...

“Lovely apartments great holiday.”

We stayed at the Kentia for half term week in October and found the week excellent value. The apartments were kept very clean and tidy and all the staff were friendly. Whilst the apartments are self catering it does have to be said as per other reviews that two rings and a kettle make cooking meals a little difficult but given the current exchange rates eating out is very reasonable.
There were four of us, two adults and two children (12 &9) and we ate at My Corner, Ugar and the apartments themselves all of which were child friendly and provided decent food at a great price.

If you do want to buy some foods or snacks, there is a BIM supermarket about 5 mins away, turn left out of the hotel and left again up a gravel path and the shop is just on your left at the next main road.

We walked into Side which took about 35 minutes with the kids slowing us a bit but it is worth a look and the beach which the free bus takes you to is great, sandy and safe for children. The sunbeds are free albeit you probably will buy a drink or food at the beach bar anyway.

The apartments have theme nights with entertainment, magic show, turkish dancing and belly dancing all of which whilst cheesy are quite amusing.

Overall I could not fault the apartments except their close vicinity to the mosque which gives you a 6am wake up call when the call to prayer is made!

Room Tip: As everyone says go for block d as furtherest from the bar/music.

“Great Value at Clean and Friendly Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

I recently stayed at the Kentia Apartments with my fiancee and had a great time. The rooms were clean and spacious and we had a nice balcony overlooking the pool. We had read reviews that it could get crowded at the pool but we did not find this - though were there at the end of the season. We did not eat at the apartments and also contrary to other reviews, did not get hassled in the slightest. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The Kentia is about 30 mins walk from Side or a short taxi ride (10 Lira) or a short dolmus ride (1 Lira). So, it is very convenient for the town. We ate there almost every night and found the restaurants excellent - particularly Sun Gardem, Aphrodite, Fiesta and Cafe Anatolia. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here.

Room Tip: Rooms on opposite side from the entrance get the sun all day!

“Great Value for Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

We stayed at the Kentia for 2 weeks during late Sept and early Oct and had a fantastic time. We were fortunate to be allocated a room in D block which is furthest away from the music and must admit that if we had a room above the music it might have been different.

We ate in the hotel 6 times over the fortnight we were there on each of the themed nights (BBQ, Ottoman & Turkish). The value was excellent as we only paid 54TL for a family of 5 (kids were free!) and the food was first class with more than enough choice to cater for all tastes.

All the staff were very friendly and we found that none of them were very pushy at all which a few other people seemed to think on reviews.

We had a 2 bedroomed apartment which was very spacious and although the cooking facilties were limited we were aware of this prior to booking and this didn't cause any issues for us as we simply bought food accordingly to suit the facilties available.

On the occasions we ate out we found that Mehmet's in the Ruins was the best restaurant. It is about a 20 min walk from the Kentia but well worth is particularly for the Ottoman Casarole. Another recommedation would be My Corner which a number of others have commented on.

The only down side to the Kentia is the location which is a good 30min walk from Side although I assume this is reflected in the price we paid. However there is a taxi service from the hotel into Side for only 10TL and there is also a free bus to the beach which is well worth a visit. Please be aware that the sunbeds are free on the beach as long as you purchase food/drinks at the beach cafe otherwise they may charge for sunbeds.

The pool area was excellent and spotlessly clean although a little slippy for younger ones. The kids pool areas was also excellent.

Overall I would definately recommend the Kentia for a good value holiday although I would assume that in peak season there would be an issue with sunbeds as some have commented on. However, at the time we went this was never an issue and we could easily reserve sunbeds at 10am in the morning.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in D block
