“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

I was sceptical about this hotel following some of the reviews on here, however I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised. The food was pretty good and despite what others say, it does not cater to Russian tastes. There is a good variety of traditional Turkish, European and other foods. We did not arrive at meals early and never found a food shortage. I will strongly agree with comments that the animation team are excellent. Very hard workers, and not just in terms of games for young children. The spa was nice, but I agree they are a bit pushy. But I booked several massages and can't complain. One major negative was the wine and beer - awful. Not even drinkable. It took us a few days to realise that you can actually pay for better wine. Once we had discovered this, meal times were more pleasant :) This is not a 5 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination, more a reasonable 3, but it was good value for money.

“Not to a 5* standard”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

Stayed here for a week in October. Hotel looked presentable but, the staff at times we're hot and cold. Lots of Russians who occupied to majority of the hotel. Food, oh my goodness! I am happy eater but, the food was bland at best! also, drinks were of poor quality from beer-vodka. Soft drinks were 'real'. All 3 meals were a repeat of themselves and state again, BLAND at best. This is my first write-up on here and although most complain, I'm just being constructive. Entertainment was enjoyable at night. Beach was stoney and cold. Looking at a 15min walk to the main centre where we ate a few times - just for some real tasty food. Rooms were basic and clean. How they were rated as a 5*!? Reception area pleasent. Think twice before booking.

Room Tip: You either have a pool/sea view or, the mountains.

“I smell a scam!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

My wife and i stayed for one week 9th to the 16th November 2011. As usual i used Trip Advisor as a guide before i booked my stay in this hotel. We are frequent travellers and Trip Advisor has always been helpful in deciding where to book. However, on this occasion we feel badly let down.
How can this be a top 10 hotel in kemer? Are the others really that bad?
There is surely and seriously something wrong here. I smell a scam.

Staff- average. Good staff let down badly by the bad. One example of many. On the first night in the bar the tender became extemeley annoyed by the way i was explaining to him the way i liked my drink. I even felt the need to appologise to him.(i later discovered this young man was employee of the month for April)!!

Cleanliness- poor. Room was not cleaned properly. We waited in vain for the toilet seat to be cleaned. I don't think this job is in their remit. Dining room was grubby with walls splashed with i don't know what and grime. Worst was the wall light fittings, some overhanging food, hanging with dust.

Food- We're not fussy but this was poor. A big selection though.

Drinks- OMG. Soft drinks, tea, coffee ok. Alcoholic drinks, many undrinkable. Wine both red and white awful, absolutely awful. And i don't consider myself fussy. During the week I had to drink my duty free.

I could go on but i think you get the picture. This hotel is not as it seems in the majority of the reviews. I would not recommend.

Room Tip: All pool view rooms have sea view to the side

“Excellent hotel - The feared Russians were not bad people at all”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

We have stayed at many hotels on the Turkish coast, but this one certainly ranks in our top 5. After we checked in we noticed that we were given an luxury room with sea view and probably the biggest private terrace I have ever seen at a hotel. The staff was very kind and certainly tried to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

The food at this hotel was served on a buffet and with a wide range of choices. Sometimes catering more for an Russian audience and on some days awesome Turkish food. But even if that didn't suit your appetite, there was the option of booking a free a la cart restaurant or having some snacks or pasta by the pool.

The beach is right at the hotel, which is great if you want to stay at one place for your vacation, on the other hand the buses across the province also stop right at the door. So either way you can certainly find enough to do. The disco is all inclusive as well at night, which is a great exception and that alone worth the price.

We enjoyed the many contacts we had with other guests as well, some from Russia others from the UK and Holland. Surprisingly the hotel also offers their services to business guests and we noticed a grand convention center hidden under the hotel.

Last of all we'd like to thank mr Huseyin Ulker and his staff for all their effort and kindness they have shown me and my fiance during our stay.

Room Tip: The rooms over on the left wing when entering the hotel are the best in our opinion.

“Not a 5-star experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

I don't think this hotel lives up to its star rating at all. We paid for an all inclusive deal, but I wouldn't do it again - too many corners cut.

For one thing, the a/c was switched off during the day - the hottest hours - and at night. We couldn't sleep. The most basic requirement of a hotel room is surely a comfortable night's sleep. It is really very hot in Turkey.

Staff refused to switch it on or even discuss their policy of switching it off during the day. Our second night, at 4am, we tried opening the balcony door - it was cooler outside than in - but all we got was a roomful of mozzies.

We were eventually given a room on the 4th floor with it's own a/c unit. I don't know why only the 4th floor has them, but I strongly suggest you request a room with independent a/c if you are going to this hotel.

This was our honeymoon so we happily paid extra (through Astral Holidays) for a sea view. Don't bother paying - we didn't get one. Our room faced the swimming pool and had a pleasant enough view anyway.

Prior to arrival, I emailed the hotel asking them if it would be possible to place a bottle of champagne in the room on arrival. They sent a rather rude email back saying they could only leave wine. Then they completely forgot to do it anyway....

I don't know how many times I called before I opted to send an email. Staff who picked up the phone could not speak English and instead of transferring my call to someone who could, they simply hung up. English was not really spoken in the resort. My husband speaks fluent Russian - most of the guests are Russian - but it was still painful communicating.

The room was basic - not at all 5*. It lacked an iron, kettle etc. Daily cleaning was reasonable, although carpets were stained with miscellaneous liquids.

The cleaners was to kept removing our spare room key. I didn't think much of the security implications of staff confiscating keys.

The mini-bar was not stocked, which is important if your deal includes a free mini-bar.... We asked staff to fill it. They brought a bottle of water and two sprite. That's your lot.

Cocktails are not included in the all-inclusive deal which covers only cheap local alcohols. We decided to splurge but regretted it soon afterwards. After waiting 30 minutes, we received a pretty sorry looking pina colada priced (USD 15). No ice in it, no coconut milk either. The mojito was worse - a mint salad over-stuffed awkwardly into a glass with a dose of rum on top as an afterthought. It was more solid than liquid. And the barmaid put lemon juice in it instead of soda water. The result was undrinkable (USD 15).

The bar manager quickly replaced the second drink - he taste-tested it and winced. But if you're going to sell cocktails at that price, surely you must first train your staff...

As to the entertainment, the noise by the pool was more annoying than entertaining. If your idea of fun appeared is putting a wig on and running around the pool holding hands while someone else shouts a stream of [---] into a mic, you'll enjoy it. To be fair, this kind of thing might have been ok if we were a family with teenagers. I personally preferred it when the DJ played on his own. Night time ents were basic, not bad, but I would never pay to see these guys.

The hotel's one redeeming factor was the buffet. Although it was pretty much the same spread every day, the offering was varied and fresh. I am the most difficult eater I know (a vegetarian, who is also wheat and gluten free) I found plenty to eat and most of it was tasty. And serving fresh water melon by the pool was genius.

The poolside was attractive, the weather was perfect all week, and we didn't have a half-bad holiday.

Saying that, I would shop arround if you're looking for a quiet romantic break or somewhere a bit special. This isn't it.

Room Tip: Ask for the 4th floor - the only rooms with air-conditioning that isn't switched off. You contro...

Dear Guests
Thank you for getting in touch and bringing your issues to our attention at Intourist The Maxim Resort Hotel. We are sorry for inconveniences you experienced during your holiday.
We are really sorry that we were not able to meet your room expectation at once. In our hotel all pool view rooms have sea view to the side, so they are also counting as a sea view rooms. But after your request we changed your room, also with a sea view.
Dear guests, we got your mail one day before you’re arrived, with your request about champagne:
“This visit is for our honeymoon. Please ask staff to prepare a bottle of chilled champagne and two glasses for us on arrival.”
In our hotel for honeymoon reservations we are sending one bottle of wine and fruits, the same we proposed for you too:
“ We have your booking reservation, but there is not written about your honeymoon, you reservation is standart. So but any way, what we can do for you is: we can send you some fruits and wine to you room when you will arrive !” “....... For other help our Guest Relation Department is always ready to help. Have a nice fly. Best Regards”
If our answer was rude for you, so please take our apologies. All what we promised we send to your room and we have written paper about fruits and wine order from our Guest Relation Department. And you did not mention to us that you didn’t get you order, so if there were some mistake with a wrong fruits and wine destination, we could easily change it, because it is really important for us that you will be satisfied in your vacation.
In our hotel concept and contract, mini bar filled up just in the day of arrival, and after we are not filling it anymore, so guests can take the water in the freezers which are staying near each bar. In our hotel we have central air conditioning system this is also mentioned in our concept. We are sorry that we were not able to meet your expectations about this service.
We are sincerely appreciate your comments concerning the nice buffet and food tasty, this makes us work double when we know that we could proof your expectations.
We are sincerely sorry that your visit did not reflect standards that we set for our hotel. Our goal is to always exceed our guests’ expectations. We value your comments and we will take whatever steps we can to correct the problem. We regret that you experienced inattentive service. We strive for the highest level of professionalism. We are very concerned that you did not receive the exemplary service you deserve.

Again, please accept our apologies. We hope to have the opportunity to restore your confidence in Intourist The Maxim Resort Hotel.
