I can't decide if the hotel is an excellent 3 star or a low-end 4 star, probably somewhere in between. The service is good, the staff friendly and helpful, our room was a good size and clean and the food was very nice. But the walls are paper thin and the facilities are not as advertised - no functioning sauna, Turkish bath, gym equipment not yet installed. It could be that it was low season so they send you to the other larger hotels in the Rose group just opposite - not a problem.
The hotel itself is small - 125 rooms or so which is nice if you like smaller hotels, it also makes it quieter. It is not directly on the beach, you simply cross the boulevard through the Rose Beach Hotel opposite and you're there, you'll have access to the private beach section. The mountains are just behind you and it's about a 15-minute walk to Kemer. At the time of writing (May '07) it was towards the end of a row of hotels along the boulevard and there wasn't too much construction going on either so again, peaceful. Over time, this may change.
And I still, in my mind, have the call to prayer from the nearby mosque which resonates across the area. Beautiful.
If you're British and looking to mix with your compatriots - it's not the hotel for you since the clientèle are predominantly Russian and Scandinavian. But a good choice if you want to be in a resort set-up and feel to some degree like you're abroad.
I'd recommend the hotel - it's all inclusive and excellent value for money, the facilities of the hotel group are extensive. The Turkish bath and massage they have was wonderful. It caters for all ages pretty much, my husband and I had a very enjoyable stay.
NB: if you're booking through Expedia don't bother with paying for the taxis in advance through the voucher system - there are plenty of cabs outside the airport and the hotel will get you one for the return - the Expedia deal costs at least twice the amount - per person!
