“Stunning Views”

Beautifully positioned hotel on the end of the Peninsula, incredible views out to sea and the Greek Island of Meis. Unfortunately the Hotel is a little tired and in some places exhausted.
In need of someone to take overall management control, most of the staff are brilliant, but there is a lack of an overall general manager. Having spent over two weeks at the Hotel I don't know who the Manager is. Staff dress very informally.
Food was good, lots of choice and lots to eat, buffet style breakfast and evening meal.
You need to be fit to stay here, with lots of steps everywhere.
Good local bus service and cheap to Kas town and harbour, where you will find lots of really good restaurants, shopping, a live music bar, and good boat trips.
Some of the rooms are very basic, and wifi only available around the pool and snack bar.
Excellent Salt water pool and plenty of sun shades and sun beds.

“Nice budget variant, great views”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2011

I've spend two times in this hotel. This year (2011) and last year, both times in June.
Though this time I liked it less, it is worth a try if you are after a budget variant in Kas.

There are two major areas to stay in Kas - the peninsular, which is about 5 km long, and the town itself. Both have their pros and cons. As I love staying at the peninsular, the Aquapark hotel is a choice. It is located on the very top of the peninsular and has the biggest territory in town. There are several swimming pools (one is rather big), they are arranged in cascades. There are also two water slides (operated from about 11 till about 17... some reviewes said they are inoperable, which is not exactly true). The territory is really big, but a little neglected in some places, so those, who may like park-type hotels, may not like it. However, there is always a way to keep out of the crowd, if you don't want to get in touch.

The breakfasts and dinners are OK, they make grilled meals some days.

The beach is a platform, the depth starts right from the ladder. I haven't seen too many people in the beach both times of my stay in the hotel, so there is always a way to find a cot. The water is really clean in the area, and the beach is a Blue Flag beach. It faces a huge mountain of the mainlands on one side and Kastelloriso on the other, so the swim there is really pleasant. In June the water temperature is already OK.

The thing to be aware of is that not all rooms are equally good. First time last year I was offered a corner room facing the parking lot, and it had some problems with the sewage, So I finally changed the room to the facade part of the reception building. This room is quite OK. The furniture is rather old and basic, but if you are not looking for luxury, it is OK. The view from the balcony was really relaxing. The second time I was not so lucky, so the first room I was offered was again - the same corner room facing the parking, the second one was the same room location, but on an upper floor, and only the third offer was rather suitable. It was in one of the buildings facing the beach platform. It provided a spectacular view to the sea and mountain. However, it was on the ground floor with no balcony of its own, and I guess there was something leaking on the upper floor, when people over there used their bathroom. the furniture was also very-very basic and far from being new.

I guess this time it was because the hotel was crowded. There was a real irruption this time (unluckily there were some noisy Britains, who shrieked the whole night through until 3 a.m. at the pizza bar). So probably they did not have a good alternative choice of rooms.

However, this hotel is worth a try if you travel on a budget. Kids could certainly have fun there, as there is an evening disco, animation and water slides (those the only slides in the peninsular area, plus there are four in one of the city beaches).

“very disappointed”

We arrived at Aquapark hotel around 2am. When i got to reception i didnt feel a good vibe, the guy there had very little english and seemed totally uninterested in anything. We were shown to a room in the dark, no lights, taking our own cases down these steps. Room was awful I rang reception all he said was room change 2moro, so next day we went to reception we were shown to 2 other rooms, didnt like any of them, I requested double bed with nice view before I arrived and I got an email saying yes you will have a nice room. The other rooms we were shown were horrible too and we took one as it had double bed, there was a lovely view but tiny balcony. The bed was really uncomfortable and I asked for a chair but it never arrived. The phone didnt work (that wasnt a problem). Door handle fell off door, light switch in bathroom fell completely off and u could see the wires, part of the A/C fell off but we stuck it back on. The paint work is really bad, lights half painted and the wood also. Its such a shame as most people who write reviews say the same thing, the view is spectacular. This hotel really needs a face lift badly and put some staff who can speak a little more english that they do right now. The bar staff and waiters have very good english so in that respect it doesnt make sense as reception is your first point of contact with the hotel and if you get off to a bad start then ....

Also as mentioned the AI is a joke. You get the lunch menu and you ask for something and its like thats not in the AI, well theres no list of whats in the AI or not. Also the same re the drinks and the flat coke and sprite unless you ask them to open a new bottle like i did. I did like the food but no fish and i was there for 10 days, we were surrounded by water and no fish. Breakfasts were not great, not much choice. Lunch was good as that was from the menu but you're only allowed certain things and dinner was hit and miss. We got the dolmus into Kas most evenings and visited Kalkan a few times which we totally loved.

When we were leaving we paid 70 TL to keep our room as we werent getting picked up until 8.30pm. We were waiting in reception for the bus but then got told you have to go to the top of the road (the steep hill with our bags). One boy carried my suitcase which was very heavy and my husband had to take the other two bags. I dont know why buses cannot go down this hill as we collected other people on the way to the airport and some of their hotels were down steep hills too and the hotel have a van and why dont they drop your bags up as i see them doing it for some people.

We will definitely return to Kas/Kalkan but not to the Aquapark unless it gets a serious makeover.

“Puzzled”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

I'm puzzled by the high rating this hotel has. The fors are lovely scenery, some friendly staff, good room cleaning daily, edible food and a friendly boxer dog called Bardem. The against are a bus ride from the nearest town Kas which in itself isn't a problem if on site there was a shop to buy basics but there isn't. No shop, no gym, no excursions, no help ( such as explaining how the hotel functions and whats available or not ), no entertainment, no where to go and nothing to do. Food became sameish after 4/5 days. We were all inclusive which made us feel like charity cases, for instance my friend had a 1/4 pound burger which was a piece of burnt dried meat about 2" across and 1/8" thick but a person next to us paid for one as they wern't all inc and got a proper 1/4 pounder. This was a general rule at the bar for food or drink although evening meals were all the same in the restuarant. The Turkish bath rooms looked like a single mans flat the morning after a major party, no way was I having any treatments among the old food plates and dirt. Could be a good Hotel if managed properly. I shan't return though.

“Don't know where to start?!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

We went as a group of 5 people. When we arrived to the hotel we had to find our own way around, reception staff wasn't very welcoming, didn't show us around, didnt explain anything. There is no entertainment during the day or evenings. We paid for all inclusive, but the made you feel like a secon rated guest. Flat drinks, paying guests got cans and bottles. At lunch time we could choose food from menu, but if a paying guest ordered the same thing, they got better quality food. This is not a hotel for people that is unfit, from the top to the bottom of the hotel are 300 steps to walk. Not easy in the heat. Barpool was never open. You could take the local bus to kas centre, a quiet lovely town with bars and shops, the shop in the hotel was never open. Anyway, not a 4 star hotel. Our flight home was 05.25 am. And we had to check out 1pm. They told us that our all inclusive had stopped and it was 13 hours before we got picked up? They told us that we could keep one of the room, that was good of them... We felt that we were being observed incase any of the other guest ordered extra drinks. You wasnt allowed to bring any food or drinks back to the hotel or your room, so even if you were all inclusive and wanted a drink before or after the bar was open you had to pay. Local spirits only! Vodka, gin, raki and beer. And the hotel had there own beach? A concrete block into the sea. But we have to say that the barstaff tried there best to make our holiday!
