“We are going back”

Loved our holiday here last year so much we have booked again. Views are out of this world, staff are friendly. We upgraded to a delux room well worth the money plenty of space and a huge balcony to soak up the amazing view and chill out before you decide if you are going to eat in or venture into the town via the free bus service provided by the hotel. Meals in the hotel are quite basic but we never went hungry. Cannot wait to get back. One other note not a location for people who have difficulty in walking.

“Very Friendly and excellant service”

I spent a week in the Happy Hotel at the begining of July this year. As a solo female visitor, I was made to feel very welcome by all the staff especially Bahri and Kennan at the bar. You only have to give your name and room number the first night and it was never asked for again remarkable memories.
My room and all social areas including the swimming pool and eating areas were all kept spotlessly clean.
The food on HB is buffet and with around 4 choices of main foods each night. I had plently of choice for both evening meal plus breakfasts each day.
Although the hotel is a little way out of the town (about 20mins walk down and back up a very steep hill) a taxi only costs 10tl not not expensive at all.
You need to pack your flat shoes for walking around as it i extremely hilly but very picturesque and everyone extremly friendly. The bars and resturants nearer the harbour are a little more pricey but head back up to the top end of the town as they are more reasonably priced.

All in all I would thoroughly recomend both the Happy Hotel and Kalkan as a destination

“Amazing Views ...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

I'm not sure how Happy Hotel became "Harpy Hotel" in Trip Advisor but I'm pretty confident this is one of the same hotel as the traveller photos are of the hotel that we stayed at in September. Here is the hotel website for your convenience http://www.happyhotel.com.tr/ and clarification.

Booked a deluxe room directly with the hotel via e-mail and were pleasantly surprised on arrival. A very nice property, well maintained, huge swimming pool (should that be important to you) and views that are breathtaking. Our "deluxe" room was very spacious and the bathroom large. Our balcony overlooked the pool and sea which was gorgeous. Breakfast was a buffet and my husband said the fellow cooking eggs was awesome - perfectly fried eggs! A nice surprise at the buffet was a cappuccino machine that made decent cappuccinos. Only complaint is that breakfast is served until 10:00 and if you arrive late (9:30 or later) the bread has vanished and it is not re-filled. A small detail but one that could be improved on. It was very enjoyable having breakfast around the pool. Pool towels were provided in the room which was nice, and the pool was clean and well maintained. There is security at the hotel and we always found parking on the hotel property for our car which is always a bonus. Happy Hotel is a great choice for Kalkan and we would return.

“Fun in the sun”

My wife and I stayed at the Happy/Harpy Hotel in July this year when it was a sweltering 40 degrees most days, The hotel is in a spectacular location elevated above kalamar bay on a downside it is the trek into Kalkan by foot at that time due to the heat, however the hotel does run a courtesy bus in and out at various times through the day and evening, the last returning at 10pm ( a bit to early for us). We hired a scooter for a couple of days against all advice, it was a bit hairy and never ventured out of kalkan after the first day, when a driver from a local well known tour company did his best to knock us off, to the point of following us into the drive of the hotel ! That was the only negative in our second visit to Kalkan, the people being the friendliest we have ever met. We stayed in a deluxe room on the top floor with a massive balcony, I couldnt fault the room and the views. We had the half board option breakfast was good although we were dissappointed with the evening buffet selection, having stayed elsewhere the year before with the food freshly cooked, having said that there was always plenty to eat. We stayed around the hotel a couple of nights although it is very quite after dinner with not much going on, The staff are very friendly and take time to talk with you in particular Kenan , Salim and Bhari. The pool is superb and large, we never had a problem getting a sunbed and often the pool was fairly empty. We ventured out to some local bars which are within walking distance cafe vita being our favourite. Overall the happy did not dissappoint we would have no hesitation in returning at some stage in the future. Regards toi Martin and Sonya xx

Room Tip: Choose deluxe room on upper floor

“Excellent Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Happy (Harpy) Hotel, what a little gem.The staff are all helpful, pool towels supplied, always sun beds available. There are fantastic views from the pool area. The food is very good and the dinner buffet is under used by guests. The bar prices are the same as local bars so not over priced. The near by town of Kalkan is a 25 minute walk away but the hotel runs a curtersey bus 3 times a day.Kalkan is a lovely busy place with lots of bars and shops.Lots of people returned every year and I can quite see why.We hired a car from the airport as transfers from Dalaman seemed expensive.Driving was easy as the roads were very quiet and it was worth having a car to save the walk in and out of Kalkan, parking there was no problem.

Room Tip: As for sea view as garden views are sometimes just of roof tops with air con units
