“Wonderfull Holiday in Patara”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2008

I stayed 2 weeks in Patara with my family. It is family run hotel.Mehmet and his family work extremely hard to make everyone feel at home.
Hotel is on the top of Patara. They have big garden near the pool.
If you have children garden is perfect to you. The room is big and clean.they clean room everyday. Also rooms have sea view.
Their hotel is quite place;
Next year i want to turn back to Patara Hotel Mehmet:

“Dirty, under-staffed, lazy - real shame because it could be so good”

We turned up in Patara without accomodation, as many others do, just me, my partner, our 3 yr old and a new-born, so decided to choose a hotel with pool rather than B & B.

Hotel Mehmet looks good at first glance. The staff were friendly and helpful. And Mehmet is head of the Patara Tourist Board (or something like that).

The reality was a lot different, and he should be ashamed. The pool was hardly ever cleaned unless we aksed for it to be done.

We had two adjoining en-suite rooms, and even after a whole bottle of bleavh one was unuseable (and we aren't fussy about such things, we've both backpacked in Asia).

The baby cot was an upturned table - unsutiable beyond belief.

The mosquito nets has holes in.

The door handle fell off, but it made no difference because the doors didn't fit properly.

Pubes in the drawers and on the floors.

Ants running amok in the kitchen area, which hadn't been cleaned since what seemed like pre-historic times.

etc....etc....etc....

The hotel needs money spent on it, a good clean, and more staff - leaving the whole running of the place to one young man is just not right.

We weren't the only people there so some evenings were spent trading Hotel Mehmet horror stories over Raki.

I hope it improves because it is in a perfect location.

  • Liked — The overworked young man who couldn't do enough, but didn't have enough hours in the day
  • Disliked — Where to begin - cleanliness

I stayed at the Mehmet Hotel last summer and will be returning again in a few days for three weeks. The rooms are basic but clean and attended regularly. the setting is beautiful, the food excellent and the staff are friendly and welcoming. patara is a quiet village with lots of historical ruins and a fantastic long beach.
if your are looking for a taste of Turkey then you will love it.
