“Look out from your balcony and you could believe you are in paradise, look down ....”

and, depending which apartment you stay (we were in Magnolia) it looked more like a building site. I would describe 'Paradise' as 'a work in progress'. Our en-suite bathroom had a wall which was still to be rendered and bare wires were hanging loose from it. The sink tap felt like it could come away in your hands at any time and the shower would only dribble water - if you were lucky! The main bathroom shower was much the same and the door handle came off in my husband's hand. We complained on day one that the patio door handle was broken so the door could not be secured, making us feel vulnerable when going out. Despite a couple of reminders and assurances it would be sorted, it never was. We were promised an ironing board cover, which did not materialise and we also had problems disposing of our rubbish. We also had to ask for the apartment to be cleaned - on day 7 and even then, they missed the en-suite.
It was a little frustrating being on holiday and having to 'clock-watch' in order to keep to the shuttle bus pick-up times and although you could ask to be picked up outside of these times, you had to pay (15L - 20L).
Despite the lack of attention to detail, I can say that the bar staff and the lovely couple and their son, Mehmet running the restaurant together with the shuttle bus drivers were friendly and accommodating.
Paradise is in a lovely position but unless you have your own car your movements are limited and careful planning is required if you wish to use the free shuttle. Kalkan is lovely and the people are extremely friendly and helpful wherever you go. The restaurants are superb and the quality of the food is excellent. I would return to Kalkan but would definitely position myself closer to the town.

“July/August 2011”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2011

We stayed at Nar 5 apartment for two weeks (beautiful views); the first week sharing with friends in our apartment as well as seeing friends in another apartment. A few teething troubles on arrival were quickly resolved eg. large puddle from washing machine pipe, only one mug, not enough chairs, no coat hangers etc. The iron took two days to arrive. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped but missing a bottle opener, airer, dustpan and brush but borrowed a broom from friends' apartment. Not what you should have to do when on hol........
Our major gripe was that during our two week period, the cleaning, change of towels and bed linen was minimal. On day five we asked about cleaning, towels etc and were told it would happen the next day. So on day six we had fresh towels which was somewhat late considering our friends were leaving the next day! There was no further cleaning during the next eight days of our stay. Our kitchen started to resemble a plastics recycling plant with all the empty water bottles stacked up; we couldn't see any bins on the complex to remove them to.
Our friends in another apartment were told to leave their rubbish outside their door to be removed, we tried that and it was still there when we left.
Halfway through the week, we found that other apartments had received a Welcome Pack. When queried with Hilary, she confirmed that we should have received one with tea, coffee etc but we still didn't get one (or in the second week!)
Overall, there was a distinct lack of organisation with the housekeeping at Paradise.
On the plus side, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Free transfers to Kalkan are at 10.30am, 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
Returns are at 6pm, 10.30pm and 11.30 pm. Unless you wanted to pay 15-20TL (£6-£8) each way for extra transfers or with yellow taxis, organisation of the day around these times was necessary. The drivers were very obliging to fit in with guests and we occasionally paid for journeys outside of "free transfer" times as we did not always want to stick to their times but if not careful, this could mount up to be a major expense.
The pool and bar area was lovely; a perfect place to cool off after a hot day in Kalkan or if out on a trip. Stunning views of the bay and islands. Kalkan itself is great with very reasonably priced restaurants of excellent quality. We particularly liked Sandal by the harbour and Cafe Del Mar. We would return to Kalkan but would probably choose somewhere to stay which was not dependent on transfers and taxis all day long.

“Perfect family holiday.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

We rented the bottom floor of Jasmine for our family of five for two weeks in July and the kids are begging to return in the October half term!

The Paradise apartments are in the friendliest low key holiday village giving a perfect balance of sociability and easy access to amenities with a lovely calm peacefulness.

The views are better than they appear in the photographs, the bar area is attractive and well kept and the apartments are comfortable and equipped with dishwashers, microwaves, proper hobs and ovens and washing machines. Our pool was a good size for the three apartments sharing it and backed up by an infrequently used pool at the bar meaning that we (grown ups) never found a moment when we wanted to swim lengths but couldn't.

The position on the hillside above Kalkan means that there is a much-needed breeze and it also provides a great calm spot away from the hubub of the town.

There are lots of great things to do nearby - we would strongly recommend hiring a car and exploring the gorge at Saklikent - a great day out ; visiting the clean and not overly busy beach at Patara - the waves are excitingly strong!; and some of the interesting ruins nearby.

We particularly enjoyed the traditional Hamam at Fethiye and the market there.

What really makes this place somewhere to which we expect to return is the genuine warmth and friendliness of all the staff and the wonderful peaceful vibe!

“Paradise holidays - a place or state of perfect happiness”

Another wonderful holiday thanks to Hilary and staff. There are just no words to describe this complex, you have to try it out for yourself. Set in the mountains above Kalkan the views are stunning and there is a wonderful breeze particularly on hot days which you don't experience in acommodation nearer the town. The place has developed sensitively over the past five years and now boasts a new bar area with wonderful meals (check out the chocolate milk shake) and a little shop on site where you can buy basics - saves you lugging bottles of water/milk from the town. A shuttle bus is available for trips up and down to Kalkan which in itself encourages guests to mix - most people on the last shuttle from town at 11.30 have a nightcap at the bar. with residents and staff We have made many friends over the years and as usual it's sad to leave it behind for another year. I can't think of anything this place doesn't offer for a wonderfully relaxing holiday including value for money relating to accommodation - speak to Hilary as there is a range of accommodation from 2 bed apartments to 5 bed villas.

“Paradise is paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2010

Anne and Ian from West Yorkshire

We have just returned home after two week's staying with Hilary and the gang up in the hills of Kalkan. We have been going for the last four or five years and love every minute we are there. The staff (and Hilary) are so helpful nothing is too much trouble.
