“just alright... i've stayed in worse hotels”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2009

i had no choice but to stay in this hotel since it was booked by our tour group. quite under-rated if they (the tour organizers) claim that this was a 4-star hotel. don't get me wrong... it's live-able for sleeping purposes. airy, breathable... the aircon works at least. but you can't find other food here other than typical tour-group type of food which is quite bad. i had to stay behind one day because i wasn't feeling well. but luckily there was wifi at the hotel lobby so i was able to sit there and use the internet. eventually i wanted to go somewhere and not coop-up in my room so i asked the front desk where the nearest mall was. good thing, there was one- the biggest one actually in antalya. luckily, the hotel manager was there and overheard me and even offered to drive me there himself! it's withing walking distance but i'd say- 15 minutes- it looked like it was like far but near if you look at it from the room. there is a nearby mc donald's but that's about it. if you take a cab back from that mall, they'll over-charge you. even the manager warned me about it. i just couldn't walk back so i had no choice but to take a cab. this hotel isn't too bad...it's just average though. nothing fancy so don't expect much.

“Not flash.”

The lifts are ancient take only 4 people and the doors are manually operated. Our room had a balcony but no safe, no glasses, no soap and the lighting was awful. It is 45 mins walk away from the nearest internet cafe. The pool was being maintained so it mattered little that it was damn cold.
The dining room staff wanted to get away so whisked the plates away tout suite the instant they were empty. They even served up chips (frys) as part of the evening meal. The meals were standard awful tourist fare - don't eat here unless it is part of your package.
The front desk made a mess of our on arrival registration so we had to do it again before we could check out. No big deal but indicative of sloppiness and lack of client focus.
Then there is the location. The last tram stop for the hotel is the wonderful Antalya Museum - well worth 3-4 hours or more if you can spare it. From the museum it is a 30 min walk to the hotel. It is 9 YTL by taxi from the hotel to the city. tram is fun but be prepared to walk - it is flat but there is no protection from the sun and no cafes en route.

“Comfortable, clean, safe hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2009

The Grida is a clean safe, friendly hotel with all amenities. It seemed dark and basic when we first arrived, but after a short while it started to grow on us as a tourist base to travel out from. Slightly on the outskirts of the tourist area, but within easy reach of the sea. Our room was very basic and reminded us of an American motel, but in a hotel format. The food was in abundance on half board basis and was wonderful. The lobby bar and rest area in the foyer complimented the hotel with it's friendly charm and helpful staff. A large swimming pool outside was cleaned regular and enticed you in away from the sun and then presented the use of a sun lounger to sun bathe on.
A short ride away was the ancient harbour with many boat excursions for you to take. But be warned you will get heckled by their crews for your company on board and the fee that follows. From there are all the old shops with every kind of trinket and tacky souvenier you could imagine and likewise the badgering starts to get you in.
Once you have escaped their clutches it is only a short walk to Hadrians gate and once through a world of small, but wonderful smaller hotels and restaurants spring forward.

“Okay, but there are better”

The hotel is not that far from the city centre in Antalya, though a taxi would be your best option. The hotel facilities aren't that great though dinner is included in the price because that is the common custom in Turkey. The hotel rooms are a bit small and the halls give you the sense that your room is going to be in disrepair but they aren't, they are just small. I would not recommend this hotel just because for the same price you could probably get yourself into the Sheraton or Falez which look alot nicer.

The pool did not look that clean. We arrived in November which was warm but not very hot that we would have needed to go into the pool. The hotels lobby is neat and clean as is the dinning room. The hotel is a nice little walk from the shopping mall in Antalya which is great to pick up souvernirs like Turkish football shirts etc.

“Money left over for shopping!”

This hotel was actually better than expected. We opted for this hotel for a conference accommodation instead of the Sheraton and we were definitely pleased. The rooms are nice - and a good size - with balconies. Definitely the place to go on a budget. They also have a lounge/bar downstairs that is nice to meet friends in.

The breakfast was plentiful, although the food was not great. This, considering the great food and fruits available in Turkey. We ate one day at the Sheraton just to have some good food. However, you're a short walk away (down a hill) to the beach where there is fantastic food. So get your fill on breakfast and head to the beach for dinner.

The staff were all very nice and were able to change our currency at a good rate. They tried to make sure our stay comfortable. Just ask and they try to provide.

Be sure to ask for a room that faces the pool as the other rooms face an ugly parking area. The pool was great, although I was sick and couldn't go in. My husband had a few dips as I sunbathed.

On the pool side, from the balcony, it's a great view of the hills, of the sea, of everything (including the Sheraton:=) ). We have photos. Take a gander.
