“Hotel with Turkish character in charming location, good choice for the budget traveller”
We needed to sleep over in Antalya for one night prior to catching a flight to Istanbul and decided to choose a budget option in the Old City as we would only be there for an hour or two of sightseeing and supper in a nearby restaurant. The hotel is situated in a charming area of the old city, lots of narrow cobbled streets packed with restaurants, shops and more hotels/inns and within easy walking distance of the old habour. The area is highly recommended!
Unfortunately it rained quite hard on arrival and we never even got to see the pool/garden area and having to leave early the next morning, we missed the breakfast so often mentioned by other reviewers as excellent. It was tricky to find the hotel, but our GPS directed us to the old city and once there it was easy to ask for directions at one of the hotels, everyone seems to know all the hotels. The streets are narrow and cobblestoned and we were often convinced that we were driving down a "pedestrian only" road, yet it all seem open to traffic. Several one ways though so keep your eyes open...It was a great advantage to have parking in front of the hotel as parking is at a premium here.
Our room was clean but very basic and a bit more tired than what one can see on a photo. Yet for the price we paid I cannot complain. The night frill on the bed was wet, perhaps due to a rain leak and the friendly housekeeping staff quickly changed that when I informed them. The housekeeper could not understand English, but we got by on my patchy German learnt many years ago at school! The only dislike I would like to mention was the bathroom - old, with unsightly pipes showing from the walls, discoloured grouting and no cover on the shower drain. But even so, it was squeaky clean.
We enjoyed the walk to a lovely nearby park and the habour despite the rain and there were many restaurants near the hotel to make our choice for supper.
White Pansion offered all it advertised, so no complaints but in that regard but should I return to Antalya I think I will go for a slightly more upmarket option.
